The second one is more or less independent of the first, the only advantage to seeing the first movie is that you'll know who the characters are, and where they came from. Honestly, they're both great movies, with the sequel being the better of the two. If you enjoy a good action movie with amazing characters, watch them both. I seriously doubt that you'll regret watching the first one (some REALLY cool characters in that one, too! Especially the n bad dude! Wow!). While you're at it, stay on the Guillermo del Toro train and check out Pan's Labyrinth, too! I seriously feel like sending Mexico a thank you letter and a fruit basket for giving us Guillermo del Toro and Selma Hayak (and a punch in la cara for Juventud...)!

Pan's Labyrinth = required viewing of any human That movie absolutely RULES I know Del Toro did the Hellboy movies too. I figure if i'm gonna check out the second, I should check out the first. Or else, I guess I can always do them in reverse like I did with the new Batman movies

Do them front to back, you'll enjoy the second one a bit more not having to wonder who the hell the fish guy is, and why Hellboy isn't fond of Germans... ;D

Good idea.
I'd be freaked out if there's a Fish Boy walking around a movie with no explanation or odd reaction ;D

I have to say the previews for that movie intrigued me. Do you have to watch the first to understand/enjoy the second? Cause I do want to watch the second but the first didn't look interesting to me. To be blunt, the first's story sucked balls - but the characters are pretty much the reason you watch the movie. They're very interesting, well played by their respective actors. The second movie is pretty much the awesome of "Pan's Labyrinth" seeping through Del Toro's works into other films. (also, "Pan's Labyrinth" - great movie, but I could've done with some more labyrinth.)

So, I was looking at the new Nintendo Power magazine at the store, and they had a TGS section. In said TGS section, they mention the screening for Resident Evil: Degeneration they got to attend. They all fucking flamed it. Two of the four guys said they wanted to walk out of the movie at multiple times.

But did you like the movie at all? The story wasn't rocket science, I don't think there's much coming out as far as movies go that can claim to have a groundbreaking story, but I still really enjoyed the movie.

I loved the movie pretty much JUST for the characters - it was all I needed to convince me to go see Hellboy 2 damn near opening weekend.

I watched Sukiyaki Western Django, and it was pretty BA. It moves pretty quick, but is a very serviceable western movie and samurai movie. Good stuff.

So, seeing as it is that time of the year again, I was wondering what Dumpers consider to be their favorite Christmas-themed movie. Are you down with the old stop-motion Rudolph movies? Charlie Brown Christmas specials? What's your poison?
My personal favorites are Bad Santa (RIP Bernie Mac), and the 1951 classic, A Christmas Carol, featuring Alistair Sim (none of that colourized bullshit, y'all, only black and white for this one!). So, which ones do you guys like? Or hate?

I don't watch many movies in general, but for a Christmas movie, I'm kinda fond of Jingle All the Way with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sinbad. www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXF6eoVeJUs

I don't think anyone can go wrong with Charlie Brown for any holiday or occasion, really Aside from that, the old stop-motion Rudolph claymation stuff is nice nostalgia. They made a lot of sequels to those though and some of that stuff is actually frightening
