Jackson/Sakuraba was great! I always forget about it for some reason, but like you said, OG, it's a pretty amazing fight! You can see the pitbull in Jackson way back then, but now someone (Juanito Ibara, who I have a man-crush on for resurrecting one of my favorite fighters of all time, and helping him win a UFC title, something team punishment was never even concerned with) is sharpening that big, dull battle-axe for him, and he's gone light-years ahead now from where he was in that fight with Sakuraba. Great fight, look it up!

Well, Mrs. Ferguson's little baby boy SLICE will be in the cage again tomorrow night in Elite XC versus 6'5", 265 lb PRIDE veteran James "The Colossus" Thompson in what I think is to be a televised event on CBS (it's on the Fight Network up here). The ma in event, a middleweight title fight between Robbie Lawler and Scott Smith should be a freakin' awesome war, too! Unfortunately, I don't know if the chick fight between MMA yum-yum Gina Carano and Kaitlin Young is still going down because Carano apparently didn't make weight If you get the chance, you guys should check this out, I think it should be pretty good, provided CBS doesn't pull a Ted Turner/WCW type of pervasive involvement with the organization. Enjoy! Here's a link to the fight page, too!

Yeah I'm looking forward to this. It's gonna be the first MMA fight on network tv! And while its Saturday night, its still on at a primetime hour. I'm optimistic but I do have a few concerns. What worries me are: 1) Censors. 2) Endless commercials. 3) Very patronizing commentary. But I have confidence the fights should be interesting. I think I once saw James "Colossus" Thompson fight before...I think it was against Giant Silva/Shiva? (the one who ISNT Great Khali). And Thompson was just pure muscle and adrenaline and destroyed the guy. So if its the same guy, it should be interesting against the BEAST that is Kimbo...armed with Bas' training, of course Also, Gina Carano is becoming more popular but regardless of not making weight, I can't imagine CBS putting a female MMA fight on national television at this point. That's pretty groundbreaking and I'm not sure they as a major network are ready to do something like that and risk public outcry. Kimbo's ferocity alone will cause a mass letter writing "think of the children" campaign

Thompson is interesting, he's pretty much raw aggression and muscle with pretty rudimentary skill. He goes full tilt, and is either destroyed or does the destroying. He's a pretty cool dude when he's interviewed, and I'd love to see him get better, but he never really seems to improve much from fight to fight, hopefully he proves me wrong tomorrow!
CBS has a major trump card with the female MMA match. UFC seems to refuse to acknowledge the existence of women's' MMA, and Elite XC could be the ones to introduce a whole new, basically unexplored facet of MMA (in North America and the UK at least) to a hungry new crowd of MMA fans. People used to shitty women's' exhibition "boxing" matches where the ladies would "fight" in bikinis would be shocked to see what women's' MMA has to offer, and a lot of the time, the fights are more exciting to watch because the ladies seem to like to go full tilt! Network TV exposure for women's' MMA could be a major boost for the ladies, and if the fight was a competitive one it might drive interest and demand for more female MMA to be aired regularly during the televised/PPV events. Hell, if it's successful enough, Dana White might actually have to recognize it's existence, too!

Not only that, but the show will ALSO feature the first North American commercial for SF4!! ;D Thompson is interesting, he's pretty much raw aggression and muscle with pretty rudimentary skill. He goes full tilt, and is either destroyed or does the destroying. He's a pretty cool dude when he's interviewed, and I'd love to see him get better, but he never really seems to improve much from fight to fight, hopefully he proves me wrong tomorrow! YES, that sounds exactly like the guy I saw. He was featured on one of those syndicated Pride shows on FSN (those shows RULE btw, they show highlight fights). And the guy just bum rushed Giant Shiv...Sil...Giant SOMETHING and tackled him then started raining punches on him. The guy is huge, almost looks like a cartoon superhero and he's pure aggression which should be a great fight against Kimbo! Hell, if it's successful enough, Dana White might actually have to recognize it's existence, too! Gina Carano's popularity is rising very quickly and its helping the entire female MMA division. So I'm hoping CBS allows Elite to show them off as that could be quite a boon for the sport. Anyone a fan of Joshi wrestling knows that female are no strangers to FIGHTINGU SPIRITU and I know there are some gals that can really GO in a fight. So I hope they get their chance to shine and deserving respect.

Just went to the CBS site for more info: That's kinda irritating, I would have liked more of the card to be on CBS itself and not online. Edit: Wait, here's more info!! The CBS broadcast is 9-11 and features 5 fights INCLUDING the women's match! (provided its still on)

Yeah its been great so far. MAJOR POINTS for having Mauro there too, instant credibility ;D I liked Frank Shamrock's "intro to MMA" skit as well, that was smart. The SF4 commercial was set to Faith No More's "Epic" which, while being a song i always liked (and used to listen to a lot when SF2 was hot), didn't seem that perfect for the SF4 commercial. Oh well, it was nice footage overall and a nice extended commercial. I'm sure Capcom will have the ad on their site. Time for Baroni's fight! He looked like Colin Farrell in his interview, LOL ;D P.S. HOT crowd too, that's good to see

Instead of MMA, I have CSI right now.
Unrelated, I love CSI: Miami. I know it sucks, the writing is trite and predictable, but every damn time, this part just makes me smile.
Lacky: Blah Blah, Murder Death Kill Blah Blah
David Caruso as Horatio: Straight commentary.
Removes sunglasses, regardless of time of day, location of murder/
David Caruso as Horatio: Pun and or lame joke.
The Who: YEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!!!!

What did y'all think about Kimbo/James "The Ear" Thompson?
