Hey, lookie lookie! MMA without Bud Light, Vegas, or Dana White! Could it be?... This group looks to have put together a decent card, but then, what do the Japanese know about putting together great fighting events? Nice to see Gomi back in the driver's seat! I'm surprised that Yoshida and Barnett wasn't a KO. Yoshida is giving up a pile of weight and height to Barnett. You'd think a Judoka could figure out how not to get caught in a heel hook, I wonder if he was wearing ankle supports (easier to pull off leg subs that way ;D)? I'm keeping an eye on this group, it will be a fun distraction till K-1's DREAMS group starts up!

Glad to see another promotion running shows. Sherdog was hyping the Gomi fight a lot, glad to see him with some momentum back But man, what did the people on the show drink WITHOUT BUD LIGHT!?

Cage Rage 25 “Bring it On” from Wembley Arena in London is on the Fight Network right now. One of the fights I was really looking forward to was just on (Cage Rage Featherweight Champ Masakazu Imanari vs Chute Boxe Academy’s Jean Silva.). I think I've posted yooo tooob vids of Imanari's demi-god like submission skills (i.e. flying nkeebars, armbars, etc. F00L Zero would be in total envy of Imanari...). Well, the fight wasn't a long one, but if you want to see a demonstration of obscure sub attempts, try to find a video of this fight! I won't ruin the result for those of you who will actually look this one up ;D
So yeah, another good one from the fight network (FREE PPV!) with a Ken Shamrock fight still yet to come (his 19 year old son is on this card, too. I wonder if he goes by "The World's most dangerous boy?")!
EDIT
Ken Shamrock, the UK's Most SLEEPIEST MAN!
CRITICAL!

Wow, Shamrock and his SON fighting on the same card. Very odd. Apparently it didn't work out well for him though if he WENT 2 SLEEP KENTA style. Btw, cool new avatar

Bad night for the Shamrocks, Ken fell asleep after repeatedly headbutting some big Brit's gloved fists for a few minutes, and his son, Ryan, ended his night with a busted hand (I guess he didn't listen to daddy strategy for winning fights, and decided to let his opponent headbutt HIS fist instead . The Imanari fight was cool as hell (sort of) with more ___platas that you could shake a Bas Rutten's Big Book of Combat book at! Seriously, within about thirty seconds, Imanari transitioned from a gogoplata to a omaplata, to some other shit! Very technical, and fun to watch! You like my French Black Plague doctor? Can you imagine being in the middle of an epidemic, and seeing your DOCTOR dressed up in some shit like that?! I thought it was cool, and I've had to read shitloads about Yersinia pestis (THE PLAGUE!), and all of his fun-loving friends over this past week, so I thought I'd pull something fun out of a shitty week reading about invisible bugs. Everyone knows that colds and infections are caused by MAJIKS and ad-infiltrated EA games!

I remember reading that the doctors wore masks like that on purpose - not to scare people, but because they put herbs in the beak that were supposed to prevent the bubonic plague from infecting the doctor. Am I thinking of the same doctors, Jon, or were these different ones?

It wasn't to scare people, it was to "protect" the doctors, so yeah. I just thought it would be freaky to see everyone around you dropping dead, then see some spooky looking dude like that show up to help you. I dunno, think of going to your GP for what you think is strep throat, and he/she walks in dressed like the Predator, or worse, JACK THOMPSON!

Well, the first DREAM event is in the books, here's Sherdog's rundown of the happenings! It was a pretty loaded card with names like Kawajiri, "Hellboy" Hansen, Luiz "Buscape" Firmino, Shinya Aoki, Hayato "Mach" Sakurai, and MINOWA! Sakuraba and Masakatsu Funaki made an appearance and it looks like they'll be in the next DREAM event! As much as I like Kawajiri, his opponent, BC born Kultar "Black Mamba" Gill gave him a great fight, and I hope this ups Gill's stock in the MMA world! I've seen Gill fight on lots of occasions, and he's a solid fighter, and if he keeps fighting guys like Kawajiri, he'll only get better. Gill's a total clown in interviews, too, so I think he'll be pretty marketable if he keeps his shit together. I wish I'd have caught this card, it looked to be pretty solid, and hopefully we'll see another PRIDE like entity rise up from the ashes!

Next weekend (March 29th) in San Jose, Elite XC is featuring Frank Shamrock versus this dude, Cung LeAnother short set of highlightsDana White shit the bed not trying to pick this dude up a while ago. He's only had a few MMA fights, but he has an extensive full contact Karate, kickboxing, and san sao background, and is a bit of a legend in martial arts magazines, and K-1 forums. He's had at least one fight in K-1, but all of his MMA fights have been with Elite XC (I think.). Frank Shamrock is the shit, and I think one of the big pioneers of the direction that fighters in MMA have been going in over the past five years. Le is in for a fight, but if Shamrock is cocky enough to keep this one standing, the fight could turn into a highlight reel! By the way, this bitch is FREE on the Fight Network next weekend! ;D PS: For a little history lesson on Frank Shamrock for those who might not be familiar with him. In this vid, he's fighting some total CAN!

If anyone was ever wondering what Kid Kash has been up to since leaving the WWE, uh... he's in MMA now. He made his debut Friday (not sure what organization), and won by decision after three rounds.

Cool! Moto, I'm going with your story, even though Live Audio Wrestling says he lost in decision (to some chump named Brian Brown) in an unspecified organization. Those guys are wrong a lot. PS: Watching NOAH, commentated by Don Lovranski and Mauro Ranello, is painfull sometimes, saved only by Ranello. Lovranski is a tool, and he's likely the one who fucked up the Kid Cash result.

Yo! The Elite XC Shamrock versus Le event is on right now!
Middleweights up first,
Joe Villasenor Vs Ryan Jensen
Jensen took the fight on short notice, but looks to be in good shape, and fights out of Team Quest's camp. Real back and forth stuff, but with Villasenor (from Greg Jackson's group in Albuquerque, NM) having a strong boxing background, and Jensen getting really aggressive after getting labeled with a quick left, Joe lands a BIG KO in the first round! It looked a lot like that straight punch move from Fire Pro, where the opponent gets nailed, and kind of slowly spins and crashes into the floor! DEADLY!
HWs next
Mike Kyle vs. Wayne Cole
Cole is in CRAZY shape, but is giving pounds up to UFC vet Kyle. Too bad bigger doesn't mean shit. 42 seconds into the fight, Cole secures side control and the juji for the win. Cole's got some GANGSTA-ass tats that look like jailhouse specials, including two little bullets on his left trap muscle, one with the letter "O", and the other "G". I can see this dude dropping to LHW and tearing shit up! Very well done!
LWs for the Elite XC LW title!
Gilbert "El Niño" Melendez vs. Gabe Lemley
Melendez has been around a while, and is ranked pretty high in the world as far as LW fighters go. Lemley brought some game, but the larger Melendez overwhelmed him, and laid a vicious G-n-P beating on Lemley in the last seconds of the round, but Lemley was "saved" by the bell (I think he'd have rather been saved by the ref, or a doctor at that point.). Round two saw Lemley looking like he had his shit together, but the pair ended up in the same position, and in the same circumstances as the end of round one. Herb Dean mercifully stopped this one as Lemley was obviously full from his knuckle samich' buffet.
Drew Fickett vs. Jae Suk "The Ice Pick" Lim
Ice Pick is an ex-special forces dude from Korea, and holds a Spirit (Korean MMA group) title belt. Fickett has ~37 fights, and ended this bitch quickly when he jumped gaurd on Lim, and put him in a guillotine, Lim looked like he was going to pull a Rampage/Arona slam, but didn't, and ended up tapping out. I guess the ice is a lot softer in Korea...
Frank Shamrock vs. Cung Le
I don't know if this fight is on yoooo toooob yet, but it was a three round WAR! Cung Le unleashed an arsenal of kicks, including a friggin' SIDE KICK, something just not seen in MMA, mostly because most of the fighters these days only learn rudimentary striking and BJJ. To see a guy use traditional martial arts kicks EFFECTIVELY in an MMA fight is pretty awesome. That said, Shamrock is a bit of a fucking nut-bar, and decided to STAND with Le. He ate tons of hard kicks, and very fast punch combos, but did not shoot for a takedown, where he's scored 13 submission victories, even once. Both guys were rocked and Shamrock was playing s lot of mental games with Le, but the challenger kept his shit together and kept chipping away. A blocked left high kick near the end of round three BROKE Shamrock's right arm, not a surprise after how many HARD kicks Cung Le unleashed on Shamrock throughout the three rounds. The round ended, and so did the fight for Shamrock. Cung Le is the new Strikeforce middleweight champ!
*Standing O for Shamrock and Le*
This fight is really worth checking out! Look for it!
