Yep, you can play GameCube games on it. And this is how you do it; you put the GameCube disc into the system. It's that fucking easy.

Get out of here! You mean I don't have to subscribe to some online service that I'll never use to D/L a disk that allows the Wii to emulate some of the GCN games, leaving some without sound or distorted colours? I don't even have to buy a $40+ add-on that activates the ability to play my old GCN games, either? What you're telling me sounds highly unlikely, and more an element of the realm of fiction or God-like capabilities! Not even MICROSOFT can do reverse compatibility.... I'm calling bullshit.

Word on the streets is, there's even a little flap you can open that has ports for GameCube controllers and memory cards.

Yeah, it's funny. One of the attractive features to me about the Wii is the Gamecube EZ playability. I never had a Gamecube (my overlord organization doesn't approve of "recreational cubes") but there's a lot of stuff I'd like to play on it. And with the Wii, possibilities are endless!!

F'n AWESOME article here! www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=69901Best line from any game company this year: ""When I'm buying a gaming system, I'm focused on the games; I want to play games, and I think that's the primary reason why someone would buy a gaming system," said Trépanier." - Marketing Director for Nintendo Canada Another great quote from him: ""I think forcing a decision on consumers would certainly not be part of Nintendo's strategy, because we want to get more people into gaming and we want to make it affordable. Forcing people to adopt a technology and a model that's proprietary and still not established is unfair to gamers."It's a good article, and I'm glad to see someone EXPLICITLY state why game systems are bought.

Honestly, I'm really not even interested in HD-DVD or Blu-Ray, I seriously could give a half a kernel of corn out of my shit about playing movies that look really sharp on my CONSOLE. I like that article, and it's an angle I hadn't even considered prior to reading it. Those DVD playback technologies are basically being Trojan "horsed" into consumer's homes in the must-have items of the holiday season. Not nice.

So, I'm looking over the next gen systems. Reading various video game magazines, mostly because I hadn't done so for a long time.
GamePro, a staple of my childhood, had showed me how retarded it was by rating all three "next gen" systems and then complaining about every system's price points and then crapping on Nintendo for having an affordable machine that won't anally rape your wallet without lube.
YOU'RE DEAD TO ME, GAMEPRO!

They crapped on Nintendo for being within a decent price-range?
Good lord, GamePRO is retarded...er. More retarded than they have been. Since the Dreamcast days. Fuckin' retards.

Man, we ended up getting 2 PS3s instead of the 20 we were supposed to get. But we did get a whole bunch of Wiis. I have some silly bosses, when we ran out of PS3s, the boss who was opening was like 'Yeah, we don't have this one, but we have this one' and essentially offered a few people a Wii instead. Hilariously enough, nobody took that offer up. I guess because you ain't gonna make mad scratch, yo on ebay with a Wii.
It was funny, they are keeping the Wiis in the back shipping office, which I didn't know. So I was back there hanging out and the manager of the store started flipping out saying nobody was allowed in there because they'd steal da Wiis. Um, right.

2 PS3's.. for a fucking Sam's Club?! That's retarded. Each Walmart in the city here got 6 units (5 stores) with one getting 11 units.

Spray-paint the fuckers black, write "Pee ess three" on the side and sell them instead, all they were going to buy for that console was Madden, FPS's, and other shitty EA games anyway.

Has anybody seen any commercials promoting the system, and not the games? I've seen a few Red Steel and Marvel: Ultimate Alliance commercials for Wii... but no Wii commercials. Kinda weird, eh?
