Heh heh, I just saw that and was coming here to post You scooped me So, now we all get to sit back and watch months of people talking about the name of the system rather then the games. But its a good way to fight the PS3 hype i guess, or at least get attention. Honestly, Nintendo could call the system "Creamed turd on wheat", and if there are good games, I'll still buy it

*Is already in line*
I'm seriously stoked about Nintendo's newest offering! They've been churning out some incredible shit for the system and concept that I scoffed at (DS), and I really think they'll turn it out with the Wii! I love the name!

I'm still really unsure about anything else, but if ANYTHING, Nintendo's got an AWESOME track record lately with it's game systems. ESPECIALLY the ones that are really iffy... who'd've thought the DS would've been so good after a rough first couple of months? I'm on board with Nintendo, assuming the Wii doesn't stand for "Wii want to make you bankrupt like Sony!"

Nintendo has a good track record of taking a bizarre and unconventional idea that sounds really odd at first, and making it awesome.
Let's take a look, shall we?
Controller; up until the NES, systems had joysticks. Big, chunky, lumbering hunks of plastic and metal. Nintendo came out with the Famicom/NES with a chunky controller featuring a D-pad and the A and B buttons, which was HUGE!!! at the time.
Mario and Zelda in 3D; 3D platformers and action games had come out before Mario and Zelda did, but on the PlayStation, and they were mostly sucky, or highly restricted (like Spyro and Crash). Mario had big, varied worlds, controls tighter than a Catholic schoolgirl, and an awesome camera. Zelda, the same things, but it also handled combat in a really awesome way. Then again, I didn't hate Navi, so... there ya go.
Metroid Prime: When people first heard that an American second-party developer was making a new Metroid game, and that it was going to be a first-person adventure game (even tho it was initially billed as a first-person shooter), people flipped. I thought it was the stupidest move ever. In the history of ever. Not including the Atari Jaguar.
Nintendo DS: Two screens? What the fuck does a handheld need with two screens? Wait, one of them is touch sensitive? What use is that gonna be? ... THE FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK?
I think, if anyone could pull this whole thing off, it's Nintendo. I'm not a big fan of the "Wii" name, but, the name isn't the selling point.

I used to say that shit all the time at work. If someone was asking about the PS2 vs XBox, I'd say stuff like "The PS2 has all the games, but the systems are like Catholic schoolgirls; touch 'em the wrong way once, and you've broken it for life."
... Dunno why my District Manager didn't like me.

You've won my support with your schoolgirl wit I'd give you a promotion for every joke you made like that... But then again, you wouldn't be able to last long working with me after all the jokes I would make that would no doubt send you home and hiding under your bed

Sony stole the gyroscopic motion sensor for the PS3 controller. It's back to the old PS2 "Dual Shock" design, but they can't call it a "Dual Shock" anymore, because they took the force feedback motors out. Which sounds fucktarded, but, this is Sony we're talking about, and they are releasing a console that's going to cost upwards of $500 (except in New Hampshire, cuz they don't charge sales tax). Seems there'll be an XBox 360-like thing going on with the lesser version of THA PEE TREE, DAWG. Dear Sony, We hate you. Go away.

I've been wanting to chime in with summit since I got here, but I don't really wanna put a dampener on the whole topic... anyways, I may as well.
The problem I have with the Wii is the same problem I have with every thing Nintendo has released after the N64.
The controllers are too small for my hands and it renders them unplayable. The GC isn't too bad, as the d-pad is the only problem with that one, but all the handhelds have been impossible for me(including the GBC) to hold comfortably, ESPECIALLY the GBA SP. With the Wii controller, it looks as though it's gonna be even worse than the GBA SP, as the buttons are gonna be too close together for me to push one without pushing a button beside it.
Pretty bad planning if you ask me.

Nah, see. I like controllers that are actually good to use. For instance SNES and PSX controllers. The Ecks Bocks controllers were too big and had overall bad button placements.
You just gotta understand that the new Nintendo d-pads are too small for me to use. My thumb covers the whole thing and then some, I tried playing some 2D fighters with it and because of this fact, I could not even pull of special moves without holding the system(it was a normal GBA) in such a way that I was unable to press the L and R buttons without having to stretch my index finger in a way it shouldn't go so I could get to the D-pad with the tip of my thumb(rather than the middle if I hold it normally).
