Man. This thing keeps getting better and better.
ATTN: Spike. Subject: Wii Body: Plz don't have region lockout implemented on your games for the Nintendo Wii. I really don't want to have to buy a second Wii, nor find some freakish way to modify a US one. But I will, damnit.

Wii will have no region lock-out, but it is up to the publishers on whether their games will have it. Also, it'll let you put it in its butt while you play "Ecco the Dolphin."

The fact that the US Wii comes with Wii sports makes me happy. Thats basically makes it a $200 system + a $50 game + various peripherals + the goodwill feeling from Nintendo *Leaning strongly towards getting Wii close to launch*

www.nintendo.co.jp/wii/topics/wii_preview/movie/lineup.htmlA video of a bunch of Japanese Wii games! Looks pretty cool I wasn't really that interested in the new Zelda until now, and saw how serious it looks. Might be cool to swing the Wiimote around a bit and slash some enemies. Also...im worried I'm gonna accidentally throw the Wiimote across the room in some of those games ;D But there IS a wrist strap right? Otherwise I'm going to periodically need new Wiimotes and tv screens...

Don't laugh, a buddy of mine trashed his big screen in a fit of Madden-induced rage with a flying X-Box controller... No BS. Get your tether now!

Ugh You know, the more i think about it, the more I would LOVE to see Nintendo (or a third party) put out a Wii Sword peripheral. It would have the exact same functions as the regular Wii Mote only it would be in shape of a sword. This serves two purposes: 1) I'd be less likely to accidentally let go of or throw a sword while swinging it just cause of the idea of holding a sword tight while swinging would override any "its a ball, chuck it!" mentality. 2) It would be FUCKING AWESOME for any sword game!!! - Ninja Gaiden, Bushido Blade (Wii version would rock!), Zelda, Soul Calibur....or dare I imagine...a Kenshin fighting game with a Wii sword... *repeatedly wets self*

This will be interesting!
Specifically the Genesis/Turbo Grafix 16 stuff! I knew aboot the Nintendo stuff, but the others will be fun to check out. I wonder if Melty Blood will be one of the "indie developer" games?

The Virtual Console sounds about like the XBox LIVE Arcade, where full games are (or can be) made just to work for it.
I saw that video, and saw awesome stuff. Like, a Dynasty Warriors game. And new Wario Ware. And new Bomberman! One that isn't all "extreme" and "Halo-looking" and bullshit. And I'm really sad that Twilight Princess got pushed back for 'Cube, since they really want to try and push it as a Wii exclusive at launch. Oh, sure, they didn't say that's why, but we all know that's why.

I'm... more troubled, actually, with all the people replying to that post with stuff like "Gee, Nintendo is being complete liars with this new system! They're such bastards, meanwhile the PS3 will be roxorsing like a muh'fuka cuz it's gonna be region-free cuz they got sued by the entire continent of Austrailia to make sure it happens lol!!1"
PEOPLE OF THE WORLD! STOP MAKING ME WANT TO KILL YOU ALL BY SENDING YOU INTO THE SUN IN ROCKETSHIPS!

hah! The shots keep comin'! Right in the mouth, even!! I don't think this is legit, tho. Seems... stupid for a company that's around to make money won't accept money for things. (But, just in case, I best get a stack o' stuff ready!)

Yeah, this seems TOO far fetched. Why the heck would they limit purchases for new systems like that? And why would they want used systems in return?
Yeah sure, i'd barter some stuff for them but they wouldn't be happy with it!
Only time i could ever see this happening (and even then it didn't happen) was back in the PS1 day if Sony specifically instructed stores to make people hand in their SNES's to get PS1's in order to kill the 2d gaming market. Or to make people trade in Dreamcasts to buy PS2's. Aside from those situations, i don't see a point in Gamestop doing this NOW when the Wii's and PS3's are coming out.

Now, see, my problem is this: Joystiq completely blew their load of "journalistic integrity" when they hyped up this fucking huge story, calling it BREAKING NEWS... and it turned out that IBM had shipped the chips to Nintendo's factory for developing the system. As it stands, everything I hear about Wii makes me want one. Everything from the funky controller (which seems really cool) to the Virtual Console (Turbografx 16? FUCK YEAH!!) to Wii Sports (WII GOLF~!!!) makes me want it. GameCube backwards compatibility? SWEET. The price point makes it dangerous, because I'll probably wind up getting one in the new year. :X
