Hey, it's a Wii thread...
I'm camping out with some friends to pick up a Wii. It won't be mine, but I'll get to play on launch day, at least.
So psyched about this system, especially after my DS Lite turned out to be such a good purchase.

Wow. Activision and Ubi Soft have more coming out for Nintendo's console than Nintendo. That's kinda sad.
And I love how people are flipping out about the Wii that plays DVD movies. Doesn't every electronic device that plugs into a TV these days already play DVDs? Is one more such device REALLY necessary?

I NEED MORE OF EVERYTHING!!!!!!
Honestly though, i don't really care all THAT much in terms of having an extra DVD player. I'm practically sitting on one as I write this anyway. Somehow in 2002 I went from having 0 DVD players to having 4 DVD players...without actually buying a seperate DVD player! But the thing that interests me is whether or not they will be some extra uses with the WiiVD that come out later on.
As for the launch lineup, WiiSports and the new Zelda game interest me a lot. I havent been interested into recent Zelda adventure games (more cause of the genre then the execution) but im really excited about swinging the sword around with the Wiimote. That's cool to me. If it goes over well, I hope someone make a Kenshin Wii game...i'd probably destroy my lamp though ;D

Does he have a pancho in your imagination, Joe?
Because he sure as hell does in mine.

Whoa whoa...
Is there even a question!? Do you mean to say that....that...
Panchos aren't standard, guaranteed attire in everyone's imaginations?
Oh man, I knew that freaking llama was cheating me on pancho insurance....

Yo, does anyone remember reading whether or not the Wii will be reverse compatible with GCN game disks? I don't remember reading that GCN games will be playable on the Wii, but I KNOW one of you will have the answer! Thanks in advance!

I can't remember where I saw it, but I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that it will be backwards compatible.

Indeed you will be able to play GCN games on the Wii. If it ends up not being backwards compatible I demand Joe remove my karma.

Thanks, yos. So, maybe by the end of the Wii's life cycle, I'll have beaten one or two of the GCN games I've been meaning to play for the last coupld of years! Solid!
