It is, but when he started wrestling, his dad (or... it might've been one of his brothers) told him to go by "Eddy", because it was different and stuck out.
And, people are acting like this is the first time WWE's done something fucktarded regarding Eddie's death as a way to put Orton over. I seriously hope they're not about to have Orton beat Rey for the spot at WrestleMania. -_-

You know...putting aside the whole "Rey losing his guaranteed opportunity" (and that sucks), this whole thing is very very odd, and here's why. For the last three years (preceding this year), not only was the winner of the Royal Rumble pretty much known or assumed (Brock Lesnar, Chris Benoit, Batista), but it was also kind of a given (except in Benoit's case) that the winner was ALSO going to actually WIN the title at WM. Now, WWE has gone the ABSOLUTE opposite direction. Instead of hitting us over the head with blantant drama-killing obviousness with the Rumble, they now basically NULLIFIED it!! They went to the ABSOLUTE opposite extreme. Instead of having the Rumble basically GUARANTEE the winner the Title at WM (not just n event, but the TITLE), now the Rumble basically guarantees that it was pointless. I just love how WWE can treat something in different ways and have both end results be mind-numbingly stupid. For years the DRAMA of the Rumble was hurt because the winner was known. (believe me, I loved the fact that Benoit won it and went to the Rumble but the only drama was "will they let Benoit do it" due to past treatment of him). And now the Rumble will mean NOTHING after only two weeks retrospect! Not good WWE...not good. And i'll save the rant about Orton getting the spot instead of Rey. Cause...that would be a NASTY rant..believe me. I'll just take my frustration out on Orton in OG-FPD

Post matches ASAP! May I suggest a Vader, Vovchanchen, Scott Norton, and Fedor vs Orton in a handicap, barbed wire light tube match? ;D

I still kick myself every time I watch the Eddy/RVD ladder match on the Eddy DVD. I could have witnessed it live, two of my favorite dudes of all time, but I backed out on buddies with tickets at the last minute... Eddy is gone, and now we have cartoons of Vince's ass. I dare any of you to tell me life is fair.

A play on how it sounded on his entrance music when he went by "Latino Heat". And, I really wish I could remember what was going on at the SmackDOWN! I'd attended some time ago. IIRC, Eddie and Chavo were in an angle with Benoit and Angle, and Edge and Rey, with the tag titles on the line. The only other thing I remember was an injured Brock Lesnar finally gaining some revenge on Big Show for stealing the WWE Championship.

I attended a Smackdown during the WCW/ECW invasion angle, which featured Austin kicking the crap out of a bunch of people and, I believe, playing guitar.
Edited for relevancy: Yes, it had Eddy on the card, too, but I don't remember quite how. It may have been a singles match.

Does anyone remember the WCW angle involving Eddy and all of the other Lucha dudes where Eddy claimed one of them stole his wallet, and he saw him, but the dude didn't have his mask on at the time of the theft?[/run-on] Eddy had all of the Lucha guys on the roster lined up, facing away from the camera and went one by one to each guy and looked under their masks, making funny ass comments about each of them! Thems was some good times right thurr. What was really cool about that whole angle was that Eddy could rock the funny shit, then get in the ring and blow the place up with a crazy match! I actually lost it like a little bitch when I read about Eddy, and it was here that I found out. Fuck I miss that guy.

I was kinda shell-shocked when I first read it. Watching the press conference with Chavo and Vinnie Mac, it didn't take. Didn't seem real. Reading the reports, it didn't take. I can remember the exact moment it hit me and I broke, though, and that's during the RAW tribute show, at the opening, when they were showing all the wrestlers on the stage. I remember looking at that, and feeling like it was about to happen, but when they showed Big Show crying, that's when it finally came out.
heh I remember turning my back to my family, trying to not let 'em see. I doubt it worked as well as I thought it did.

Yeah, I remember seeing Big Slo, Angle, and Batista really lose it. The fucked up thing about all of that was that I'd only just finished reading his book a week or two before he died, and it made the book seem all the more like some kind of predetermined atonement for all of the shitty stuff that happened in his life. I don't really like the memorial shows, mostly because they're guaranteed ratings, and the wrestler interviews catch them when they're still really raw about the situation (a bit of additional exploitation?). I really lost any drive to watch WWE after Eddy died, even though Benoit and a few other guys are still there.
