So, the UFC gots a vidja game comin' out, wheee-ooh!
But, seriously, I've played the demo and this game is fucking sweet. And that's just the goddamned demo with only Chack and Shogun playable. The full game's gonna have over 80 fighters, plus create-a-fighter. And I'll be the first to say, I was really skeptical once I found out YUKE'S was behind it, but they have nailed it with this game.
The game is deep, with a lot of variety and a lot to do. Complex, but that's only if you want to get yourself deep into things like the ground game (which can get crazy - one of the fights I had today, we traded submission attempts and ground positioning for three minutes in a round (that's the kinda shit that most UFC crowds would've booed at, but PRIDE fans would've eaten up like it was sweet, sweet candy)). At work, we even set up a 360 just to show off the demo, and we've gotten a ton of positive response just on that. And the guys at work are amped for it, too. We're gonna be doing a league, and letting customers bring their created fighters in so we can do events every few weeks. In fact, I'm even the captain of a fight team for it (the New Damage Fight Team - there'll be an announcement regarding all this on the NDP boards soon). It's pretty schway.
But, yo, I'm serious. Get this game. XBox LIVE! Come get a beating!

Hmm, I was planning on skipping this one, mostly because I hate the idea of paying for anything that Dana White is involved with, but the idea of some XBL shit stompings with Dumpers does sound appealing.

Yeah, dude, this game is serious. Like, every fight just has a huge excitement level because there's just such a huge level of unpredictability. I've had some fights last :36 on the first round, and had a couple go into the third round. There's a demo coming soon, so download that shit.

I saw it sitting on the shelf today, and I couldn't bring myself to drop $70 on something that has UFC emblazoned across the cover. I think I'm skipping this one, I'll live vicariously through you guys!
PS: Does the game have GSP on the cover in the US?

ps you NEED this game, I'm not even kidding a little bit. It's like the PRIDE game cranked up to a million. I was fighting this guy online, he was Anderson Silva, I was Shogun. He was handing me my butt on a silver platter, he rocked me from the mount, and frankly, he could've and should've finished the fight. But, he decided to taunt me instead, and stood up. I was trying to counter his KO punch, and accidentally hit the guide button, so I didn't even see most of this happen. By the time I got the HUD off screen, he'd gotten mount again, but I caught his punch, and cranked a kimura for the desperation win with about 2 seconds left in the round. He started dropping f-bombs every other word. It was sweet.

Yeah, that happened to me in my fourth fight of career mode. I was racking up points, completely owning the fight, then boom, Superman punch on the nose, I'm out.
(I've noticed that most flash KO's I've seen are a result of someone throwing a haymaker just as you begin to attempt a shoot, and if they land it as you're putting your head down, there's a good shot you're going down. It was bittersweet, because it would've been awesome if it hadn't been me.)

yeah the big KO's come from counters for sure- if you are starting a high kick- and some on throws a faster haymaker- you are in truuuuuble

I just stopped a GSP guy with Jon Fitch.
Nothing against GSP, but it's just satisfying beating someone who uses him. It's like beating someone who uses the Lakers on an NBA game with the Clippers, or something (that's not to say Fitch is bad at all, much less the Clippers bad... but you know what I mean).

Oh, and Dana's pretty true to life. He asked me to take a fight against Shogun on a week's notice, and against my better judgment, I did. I lost, and White e- ls me saying if I don't win my next fight I'm gone. Jerk. I beat his boy Iceman the next fight though, so it's all good.

DAMN! I played this f'n thing on my friend's PS3... I want to buy it now. I wonder if I just kept the game in an unmarked paper bag if it would make my conscience feel any better? I LOVED pounding Josh Koscheck into never-land with Anthony Johnson, and choking out Leben with Ricardo Almeida! DAAAAAMMNNN! Why do I have to have a conscience?!?!

Rented it, the career mode is kind of boring, and having to sit through Dana's "so you wanna be an ultimate fighter" uber macho bulshit speech was painful. KOing Gabriel Gonzaga and Check Congo with Filipovic was a RUSH, but pulling off subs is poorly illustrated in the "instructions" and seems impossible in the game proper. I finished the tutorial, and there seems to be a pretty deep ground aspect to the game with a focus on position transitions and counters, as well as a pretty fun, standing Muay Thai clinch system. I was trying to get the get a sub without throwing a punch achievement last night, but ended up pounding my opponents out instead after failing MULTIPLE sub attempts. Obviously I'm missing something simple, but fucked if I can figure out what it is, let alone get any decent help from the gfqs board (what a shit-show that place is turning into!). Any help from Dump UFC vets would be appreciated.
I have this one for a week, and if I can't figure out how to pull off a sub, or get really sick of the dry as a popcorn fart career mode, I'm shooting my money toward Codemasters' FUEL instead. For Dumpers interested in this game, I wouldn't suggest this game unless you're a fan of the ground game (in order to have half an idea of what the fuck you're trying to do down there) or are really keen to play an MMA game, otherwise stick to FP-R's MMA stuff.

I'm not a huge fan of FPR's MMA work but I love KOC 2's.
Not sure how this new UFC game is but I actually prefer the KOC 2 MMA to the old UFC games. I guess having a real edit mode is a big part of that as well as a whole bunch of moves.
Not to mention a better roster with Pride guys as unlockables ;D
