So, I picked up Mario Kart Wii. Uh... dunno why. I should be in bed right now. Hell, I should've been in bed well before the game even started selling. Damnit, man!

I still haven't played it.  And with having a really shitty day today, plus work until 1:30 am, plus having to be back for an all-day shift tomorrow at 10... I dunno WHEN I'll get to play it. Fuck. |

You've played this game already, you just don't know it yet. I'm pretty sure you've played Mario Kart for the DS, N64, and GCN. Maybe on the SNES too? If you have, then you've already played this game. |

I feel horrible for saying this, but I have neglected the Wii so much, I let my future in-laws borrow it so they can play Wii Sports.
Don't get me wrong - when I get a game I love, I love it INTENSELY (Fire Emblem, No More Heroes, SSBB), but after so long, I'm just... done. Moving on to another game, another system.
But, every few months, a new game comes out and BAM, I'm in, I'm hooked - I'm intensely excited, and playing the SHIT out of it.
Then, a few weeks later, I'm done.
I haven't picked up Mario Kart despite hearing how awesome it is - after Brawl's online "service" that boils down to how much dinner can I make while waiting for Mr. Game and Watch to knock this sucker out - I'm really not looking forward to trying it yet.
But, E3 is around the corner, and Nintendo has their "super-prizes" waiting in the wings, which I'm looking forward to, but if it isn't my DS, I can't help but not be interested in playing anything Nintendo makes.

The Wii has been a strange experience for me. It's hard to tell if its the system/games itself or just the general environment of great games recently, but I've found the Wii starting to wiiken (ok, weaken, sorry) the stranglehold gamma that FPR has had on my gaming time. SMG, Smash, and Mario Kart has gotten me playing more games and I'm enjoying that. That said, FPR still has top precedence for my gaming time but I've been very happy with the 3 POWER games the Wii has offered Whereas all games over the last three years (except FFVIA and Kenshin) have jobbed to FPR within 2-3 months, each Wii game has been going strong. It's definitely been a fun experience for me. I can't wait for Strong Bad and some other future games either, like Top Spin. Conversely, I kinda feel bad for my DS which has been mostly gathering dust. I always have issues treating a handheld as a full system, even as good as the DS is. But i think, in this case, FPR and the Wii library has just claimed precedence based on the appeal of the games itself. That said, when I do go away though, the DS is a total JUGGERNAUT of fun. Its like SO MUCH OVERKILL (in a good way) for a portable but the gaming library doesn't quite pull my attention away from the PS2 or Wii. I still am quite happy with it for when I do play it and I still hold out (false?) hope for a Fire Pro to be released on it If it wasn't for really wanting GTA4 (or at least to sample it), I'd say my gaming life is pretty perfect with the only drawback being scarcity of time. But in terms of quality and diversity of gaming library, this has been the most fulfilled I've been since like the SNES days. Which says a LOT  |
