That's why the Wii will be nothing more than a forgotten gimmick in the next couple of years if Nintendo doesn't start remembering the FANS who made sure they got this far, and not just regurgitating old shit, and making familiar crap (ie. sports ports, other console ports) to satisfy their new "Touch Generation" fan base...
Besides Wii Sports and Super Paper Mario, I barely use my Wii (unless I'm playing some WORLD HEROES! or other virtual console games that I could have D/Led an emulator and been playing for FREE), and I really can't think of ANYTHING much that I'm really interested in that's coming out for it in the near future (except the obvious one...), whereas I can think of at least ten titles for the 360/DS that are on the way that I'd be willing to sell organs for.

If Wii keeps getting ports, its dead in the water.
Nintendo can NOT rely on the "touch screen" casual generation to keep a system afloat. There may be more of them then there are of us, but they are also more fickle. If something else comes along, then they're gone and we're still here left wondering why we didn't invest our money in a 360.
That said, I do think there is some good stuff coming out. Here's my potential Wiishlist: (apologies if the release dates have been changed!)
Victorious Boxers - 10/23/07
Mario/Sonic Olympics: 11/6/07
Super Mario Galaxy - 11/12/07
Soul Caliber - Dec 2007
Super Mario Kart - 2008
No More Heroes - Feb 2008
Top Spin - 2008
Star Wars - 2008
There's some good stuff there and there will probably even announce more. However, I DO agree with the sentiment that the Wii can't be a "hand me down" system. It has to be concentrated on when making games and if we keep getting ports, the library is gonna be diluted really fast with half-assed stuff.
I still don't think the Wii is a gimmick, I really do think it was very innovative. But unless its used for that and not just treated as "that other system that's too complicated to program for", then the Wii will fail. And after a lot of companies ate crow about the fact it did better then they thought, and then said they'd start investing resources into it, we better see some REAL stuff. I don't want PS2 games, I want Wii games.

That game there is exactly the problem I'm talking about. Coming out for Wii and PS2. And there's tons of them! Manhunt 2 was on track to be an acceptable Wii-make, but then they had to go fuck the entire game up. RE4 was a great Wii-make, because they didn't fuck with anything. But this? Legend of the Dragon? Naruto? Fuck naw.
The trick is filtering out the junk and getting caught in the good, but sadly, as long as Wiis are being snapped up the moment they arrive in stores, there'll be tons of developers chomping at the bit to toss whatever they can at it to try and make a quick dolla, instead of make something that generates real interest.
Everything Geese mentioned, except maybe Top Spin, is bound to be top-notch stuff, with Brawl and NiGHTS on that list, too. Nintendo made themselves a huge cash cow with Wii, but, everyone wants a piece of that pie.

We're seeing like a PSX/PS2 kinda of junk library ratio of crap:rare gems for the Wii so far. Its amazing how much came out for it but when we consider how little it seemed to take to make some of the crap games, I'm not that surprised. But it still is early in the console cycle and when we look ahead at whats coming out, I'm excited.
I think the next year will have a real solid line-up. Its just a question of finding the gems and avoiding the crap. Being a PS2 owner, I've learned how to do that. It takes patience and a LOT of paying attention to upcoming game news. I've been doing more research on gamespot and gamefaqs for Wii then I have for any other system I've ever had. This is probably the first time i ever made a console wishlist either. Whether that's cause my memory is going with old age or cause there is a lot of games spread out over a year, I'm not quite sure of ;D
I think that the X360 and yes, even the PS3 will have a strong year next year. But the Wii will have a lot of stuff to keep us happy that uses their innovative approach. The key is sustaining that. And if we keep voting with our dollars for the good stuff, I think it will keep coming out. We just have to do our best to ignore the bad stuff. And encourage others to do the same so there isn't a deluge of it.
And really, I think that the Wii is similar to the other two systems in one respect right now. All three take a long time to develop for. The Wii has its own reason for the unique development cycle but it seems that games aren't being belted out for the other two either. This generation of consoles has the longest development time yet so its hard to be patient. But on the plus side, since a lot of the consoles have backwards playability to the point of PURCHASING old games (X360 arcade and WiiConsole), we'll at least have a lot to keep us busy. Not to mention Fire Pro which will still be my #1 anyway for a long while!

I can't say I'm too worried about the Wii's success; I think it's sort of becoming like the PS2. While it's easy to pick out the PS2's good titles, there was a TON of shovelware crap that really only appealed to some casuals, and people who liked licensed stuff. It's just a matter of knowing what's worth it, and what isn't.

So, I got Sin & Punishment for VC, and it's great. Tho, I secretly suspect I'd be doing better with an N64 'troller.

I wish Sodapopinski or Lil' Mac's trainer were selectable characters in the game.
