Haha! I lawled today! There was a line-up at EB for Wiis, and there were three PS3s in the store that no one was interested in!
PS: Guys in suits in line outside of a game store waiting for a courier to show up = priceless!

It's... it's... it's some kind of crazy, insane psychobilly Wii-call!

Unlike the people who suffer from these "broken straps", I'm very careful with mine. Meaning, there's no way it'll break. But what the hell, since it's free, I might as well fill out that form on the site.

Doesn't appear to be all that much difference between the old strap and new strap. I do see that the new one is thicker but I wonder if its by enough to really cover the FLAILING of those who had problems originally. We might need adamantium or something for those "enthusiastic" Wii bowlers...
Glad this isn't being officially characterized as a "Wiicall" either but just extra help for the small amount of people that do need it. Though I'm sure Nintendo is trying to cover their bases with this to avoid too many future cases and a thicker strap should theoretically reduce the problems and show Nintendo is attentive.
I do hope that people realize that a lot of the Wii injuries and incidents didn't arise from the strap breaking but from people playing too close to other people or furniture. A thicker strap wouldn't have helped any of those black eyes I've been hearing about or a lot of the broken furniture. Some peeps just gotta control themselves better and be more aware of their surroundings regardless of the strap getting thicker.

I'd actually thought the problem was the connector between the strap and the little loop that hooks into the controller.
Now, as far as standing too close? You kinda have to. The sensor bar will only be picked up by the Wiimote within about 5-7 feet. There are alternatives out there - even candles work as a substitute for the sensor bar, and you can make your own wireless version from scratch pretty easily, since it's just infrared LEDs - but that won't stop people form swinging the dang thing around all crazy-like. It'd be totally awesome to fuck someone up with a Wiimote to the jaw, tho. That'd be a story to tell the kids.

I didn't know if the n problem (and again, as you said, we're talking about a small number of cases) was that the strap itself was breaking or if the connector was breaking. A lot of the reports just said "the strap broke" and that was kinda vague. Either way, the new version doesn't look too different. I can understand there might be a sensor problem that causes proximity between multiple people playing the Wii. What i don't get is how people seem to be hurting themselves in single player experiences. I mean, hey, i'm a big fan of the Wii and all and I look forward to getting one. But when I do...I don't think its presence will make my furniture disappear. (As opposed to the PS3 which will apparently make everything in my room EXPLODE on the wall if the commercials are to be believed. Hey, PS3 has gotta do SOMETHING, eh?). So people need to continue to be mindful of their coffee tables while they are having fun, that's all In terms of multiplayer, I haven't tried it so I can't really comment how far away people CAN be for the whole thing to still work. I just know that the old "violence comes from video games" argument used to be confined to what happens IN the game rather then the space around the controllers, LOL. Maybe its best Fire Pro doesn't come out on the Wii at all at this rate. Otherwise someone's getting LARIATO'd!

I haven't tried multiplayer, yet, either, but I don't think the controller is really required to be pointed at the sensor bar for most multiplayer games. It mostly just picks up the movement of the controller itself, not really where it's targeting. I only assume this because when I play Wii Sports, many times my controller isn't pointed anywhere near the sensor bar, and everything still gets picked up perfectly.

Nice video, even nicer music. My favorite part of the whole experience was noticing a Fedor Emelianenko HL vid below the Wii stuff. ;D
Oh yeah, I picked up Twilight Princess with every intention of starting it up soon, but I've been BUSY with Christmas BS and I spent the last couple of days playing banker at a casino for a non-profit organization that I'm a part of (I need sleep... Two, 10:00 AM - 2:30 AM days in a row... Not cool.). Hopefully I'll get started on some Zelda goodness this weekend (If Winning Eleven doesn't trump it, which it very well could...)! YEEEE HAAA!

I'm liking the length of Twilight Princess. ^_^ I've put in ten hours, and I'm just coming up to the second dungeon of the game.
