But you're forgetting one thing; it's a Mario game from Nintendo. It won't be dropping in price after launch. Hell, Galaxy and Kart and Smash Bros still fetch $50 after a couple years. That's very true but the Wii was still super hot during the release and 6 month after period for all three of those games - all released from late '07 to mid '08. There hasn't been a big Nintendo 1st party game since then other then Resort. I'm not sure if WiiFit classifies. In any case, the Wii has lost a lot of momentum. And a lot of people have sold theirs. I wouldn't be surprised if this game goes down in price by the summer. After the holiday rush, I just wonder how many sales it will get in mid 2010.

Well, most Mario/Wii games still hit on NPD's top 20 month after month, even after years of release, so it'll probably get more sales than you're willing to give credit for. Hell, I was looking at, I think it was August's top 20 a few weeks ago in the back of a GameInformer at work, and was pretty shocked at the list. Of the 20 games, around 12 were for Nintendo platforms, and of those 12, only 4 or 5 were brand new games. The rest had either been out for months (like Tiger Woods 2010 on Wii) or years (like Mario Kart and New Super Mario Bros. for the DS).
Nintendo might not get huge Day 1 sales like a Modern Warfare 2 or whatever, but they have strong sales for long periods of time. Shit, despite Wii sales dropping off a bit, they still sell like crazy. Just not the super-insane-crazy of one or two years ago. They're still selling off half a million systems a month, which is something it took a $100 price drop for Sony to do (and they only managed to keep going for that one month).
And X, don't crap on 2d games! 2D > 3D! It's true, ask a scientist!

And X, don't crap on 2d games! 2D > 3D! It's true, ask a scientist! Oh, I've got nothing against 2D games; it's just hard for me to justify buying full-priced console 2D games. On handhelds, I don't matter. Heck, I even like some of the cheaper downloadable ones on the PSN, like Braid. But I just can't justify spending $50-60 on a 2D game in this day and age.

I will pay for a console 2D game, if it is a full console 2D game. Bionic Commando: Rearmed for 1200 Microsoft Spacebucks was just right for my nostalgia/platforming fix, you see. I also buy Castlevania's a lot, and have bought Metroid: Zero Mission four separate times. ... Also, Muramasa is great.

So you don't have anything against them, but you can't justify buying them? That... sounds like you have something against 'em. Really, don't let 2D or 3D get you bogged down; there are plenty of 3D games that blow ass, too, yanno? Like, for instance, Bionic Commando. I wouldn't recommend that one for $20, especially when the dramatically superior (and afforementioned) Bionic Commando: Rearmed is available for around the same price.
Plus, it's not like New Super Mario Bros. is just any ol' 2D side-scroller. It's Mario! That means you're free to make the exception and you won't get beat up! It's one of the rules!

Well, again, what I meant is, the most I feel right about spending on 2D games is $35~. They just don't feel, to me, like "meaty" enough console games. For handhelds (and the aforementioned downloadable console titles), it's a different story.

You know, all we used to have at all is 2D games. Fascist jerk.

lol Nah, I know, but the first generation I really started gaming was the N64/ PS1 generation. I mean, I had played a bit of my dad's NES and SNES when I was a kid, but by the time I was able to really get a grasp on gaming came when the 3D systems started coming out. I guess it's just kind of a generational thing. 2D games were fine for consoles when that's all they could handle, but nowadays, I just don't like playing 2D console games. Again, though, I enjoy 2D games on handhelds and downloadable titles, and I'm not really saying there's anything "wrong" with 2D console games; just not my cup of tea.

I got Resident Evil: Darkside ChroniclesBecause I pre-ordered I also got my free t-shirt with the game. It's too bad they only had one size (XL) and it's a little big on me, but still good. I have and played so many games that it is somewhat surprising that I don't have a video game clothes until now. The t-shirt is pretty cool. "Let Your Darkside Out" printed in the front and Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles on the back. If you flip the bottom of the t-shirt over your head, there's a zombie face. Not sure how many times I'm gonna use that face, maybe to scare my little cousins. www.walyou.com/blog/2009/07/15/resident-evil-darkside-chronicles-zombie/

So, our buddy Pheonix Wright is coming to WiiWare!
Sadly, it's just ports of the PC version of the DS games. And instead of yelling out "Objection!", you swing the Wiimote out toward the screen like the animation. Which I guess is cool (but not as cool). I dunno if I'd be picking these up or not, just cuz it's the same game I played four years ago with less features (on a bigger screen).

I finally just got through with Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles and opened up Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles and only now did I just notice that Wiimote is a little off. I'd have to rely on the cursor on the screen to shoot/select stuff.
I've tried moving the sensor around, but it didn't help much. I was wondering if the motion plus will help?
I don't know how would it work with the Wii Zapper...

Motion Plus wouldn't help. Unless there's a Calibrate option in the menus like in the House of the Dead games, you'll have to rely on the cursor, and not actual aim.
They have demos of WiiWare games now. I tried the demo of both Pokémon Rumble and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a Darklord, and really liked 'em. Rumble is a good beat 'em up with the weird pokémon flair, and Darklord was a fun, interesting reverse-tower defense kind-of game.

I got through playing all the Resident Evil 2 chapters in Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles and I loved the nostalgia that it brought. The intro was a lot like the original intro from Resident Evil 2 and going through the same areas and seeing the same monsters (Lickers and the plant monsters) made me recall playing Resident Evil 2. It also had the same self destruction theme from Resident Evil 2. Good stuff.
The interactions between Claire and Leon is also good.
