All of the "boss" areas are going to be empty after you've defeated the boss. But after that, and you get back into the n areas, you can still get into plenty of fights. It also helps a lot to explore the individual rooms more, because some fights won't be triggered by just running along the ground; you'll need to jump in the air or around trees for some of 'em.

It could be that it was the first area and so they didn't want to overwhelm me with fights.
But I do jump around the area as much as I can, mostly to get soul orbs. I would like to find some individual opponents (and not just bosses) for more tactical fights (I haven't needed a parry yet) rather then just bum rushing/special spamming the 5-6 enemies that attack at once. But if I don't bum rush them, they hit me with shurikens from all angles so it's silly not to just get all of them at once. I'm hoping to face more of the samurais that I confronted once early cause there were just 2 of them and they actually BLOCKED.

Yeah, you'll face a lot more samurai. Make sure you use the drawn-down attack, or whatever they call it. It's where you hold A and down, and then let go of A and you flip around all crazy-like. It breaks swords, so, it's good to have. And Ninjas are fun. Just remember to knock those shuriken back at the bastards!

Yeah that's a REALLY strong move with a lot of range. Sometimes it's a bit hard to pull off in the middle of action. What controller setup do you use, btw? I find it just more convenient for me to use the Wiimote/Nunchuk cause I really can't use the classic controller well without wires all over the place. But I'd likely prefer the D-pad over the analog stick. I find the air dash attack is really strong too and hard to be hit while doing it

Yeah, the only time I use it is when fighting samurai or the fucking monks. Goddamn, I hate fighting groups of monks. I should probably be using it against those umbrella monsters, too, eh? Fucking things. I hate them even more. I HATE THEM SOOOOO MUCH! But, I'll just charge up the move real quick, and then get to work. I tend not to use long swords, and try to stick with swords with really awesome powers. One that Momohime gets has a move called Earth Runner. I love that. It's a rapid series of strikes kinda like E. Honda's 1000-hand slap. Have you gotten over a 100 chain yet? It feels pretty good to do that. haha I use Nunchuck/Wiimote. They actually tuned the game specifically for it, you know? And despite having a Classic Controller and plenty of GameCube controllers, I just like using the default Wiimote/Nunchuck set-up. Regarding the Classic Controller dealy, Nyko put out something called the Classic Controller Grip. I picked one up for like, $5 at work, and my Classic Controller has never left it. It's perfect for the Classic, because it adds that much-needed weight to it. Just no rumble, the bastards. :T

I actually bought that grip and I didn't really like it that much It felt like I was destroying the wire and it wasn't that easy to mount and dismount it to the Wiimote. Wow I didn't know 100+ chains were possible. Could be I don't have the swords for it yet and I'm fighting lower enemies that can't survive. I also didn't actually notice where the combo chain meter was. This game kinda makes me want to play a Capcom vs. game ;D I hope to get more play in this weekend, tonight was Alpha 3 time

Muramasa got harder tonight, LOL ;D I'm near the Edo area and not only am I now getting two seperate enemy encounters per screen, but they are much harder too. I have a Level 19 sword and I'm hanging in there but I'm starting to get a bit nervous with every new screen ;D I'm like 4 screens away from Boss 2 I think. I love the voice work btw, I think it's one of the best parts of the game. Really feels anime-ish in its presentation. I'd actually like a bit more story and hope I get more as I progress. So far it's been enough to keep me going and interested without smashing me with too many "need to remember" details. I unlocked some monsters lair and since I was already having difficulty on the regular screens, I elected not to go further into the lair. I'll save that for later. I also saw the n map screen with all the locations and this game is pretty damn VAST, especially considering the backtracking needed to get back to certain areas I'll likely save for later.

Yeah, some of those lairs are really tough. haha I remember leveled up two or three times by just attempting one at like, 23 when it was level 25 recommended. Very tough. haha
Are you forging new swords whenever you get the chance? FORGE, DAMNIT!

Yeah I look to forge swords whenever I can, I did about 4 so far, the highest one being Level 19. I got some cool sword that has lightning effects which I like even though it's only 17. The sword forge "family tree" is huge, I know I could probably go about it more strategically but well, I don't see myself going like 100% comprehensive through this game just cause it's so vast. Plus I want to save some energy for the second character

Well, you have to beat the game a couple times to get all 108 swords anyway, so it doesn't really matter. I always forge what I can before a boss fight, because then I have good stuff going in. And then the colored boxes behind some swords, those are swords you get from the boss fights (they're also the swords that break colored barriers).
And spirit/souls don't carry over from character to character. Each has their own statistics, from level to money to armory. But once you've beaten the game, the character you've beaten it with can apparently start forging the other character's swords.

While the (and I quote from Kotaku) "girl-on-girl bottom bumping" sounds interesting I don't know if the game appeals to me but it's not so much anything specific about the game itself. It was watching a guy walk through an indoor concert hall and get into a random battle just irritated me. Man, I'm just so done with random battles at this point. I really wish a new system of getting into combat was made. I can deal with it for games I already played but for new games it totally bores and frustrates me. It's really why I still haven't finished FFIV - the After Years cause i hate walking two steps then BAM, distractions until I have to figure out the heck where I had come from and where I was going to. So disorienting and repetitive. LOL at Moto being excited at an FF game while I downplay it ;D
