Having some fun with Punch Out for the Wii. I have never played Punch Out or Super Punch Out for the NES and SNES so everything is brand new and fresh for me. I am still trying to get a handle for the controls. Recorded 2 matches The wiimote seemed unresponsive at times during this match against King Hippo www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDD4kI8NHIgLaunched a shoryuken here. www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZfiz_rlhII

Coincidentally, I actually plan to pick up Wii Motion Plus tomorrow Still not sure which tennis game I want with it - the 2K one or the EA one. I heard both are pretty good. I'm really looking forward to Wii Sports Resort

I've heard Grand Slam is not only a lot better than Virtua Tennis, but has much better implementation of Motion Plus.

Thanks Yeah I just checked out a bunch of reviews from people and sites and I haven't really seen any indication that Virtua Tennis is the better game this time around. Kinda surprising but EA was bolder in using the WiiMotion Plus and seems more polished too. So I'll pick that up along with Wii Motion Plus tomorrow

Can someone explain this Club Nintendo thing? Is it just registering Nintendo products you buy and you get points that you can use towards rewards? I got a bunch of Nintendo games laying around and maybe I will try to get some rewards out of them.

Yes, Slime, that's exactly what it is.
So, been playing Galaxy, and sweet zombie Jesus does this game have some really tough parts! I just unlocked the Trial Galaxies, and the first one I tackled was the Loopdeswoop Galaxy, and oh my lordy, I musta tried that 30 times before I finally beat it. @_@;

So I got to play some Wii Sports Resort at work. For the most part, it was pretty fun. I didn't get to do everything I wanted to, like Archery or Power Cruising (jet ski/Waverace), but I'm dying now for a new Star Wars game where you get to use the Wiimote as a lightsaber, and also a new StarFox game, because the damn game illustrates beautifully how a new StarFox game could work with just the Wiimote in your hand.

Are you telling me what I think you are? That the new sword game is as awesome as it looks? If so, I won't even charge you for me needing new pants!! I'm really really hoping that not only is the fencing great itself, but it inspires other companies to make a fleshed out version of it The difficulty in Galaxy is weird - some of the earlier boards can have a touch of difficulty but then it RAMPS UP excessively once you unlock the trial ones and just get further through the game. I mean the play control does make things a bit harder then it needs to be at times (the curse of the 3d mario in my opinion) but man i LOVE the level design in that game. Its kinda sad that sometimes little annoying things will happen in the gameplay itself cause i think the level design is amongst the best in any platformer I've ever played. I really do love the game and have gotten back to playing it a bit as well

The swordplay is, indeed, awesome. There are three modes; Duel, Showdown, and some speed strike thing. The strike thing is just you slashing in a particular angle, but the Duel and Showdown modes have a lot in common. You'll have to square off against an opponent with the same gear, and you'll have to strategically block and strike. Vertical blocks can block horizontal strike and horizontal blocks can yadda yadda. If you hit and the opponent blocks, you're left wide open for an attack. The n difference between Duel and Showdown is that in Duel, you're just fighting one opponent on top of a platform a la American Gladiators. But Showdown has you going through swarms of enemies that come in various "beat 'em up"-style flavors (scrubs, less-scrubby scrubs, toughs, heavies, bosses). You don't control your movement, which is okay, cuz if an opponent gets behind you, your Mii'll swing around to smash 'em in the jaw. It's sweet, even if you don't get to Force push people and rip Wookies down from trees.

Sounds awesome - especially if the level of control is really precise. I bought Grand Slam tennis and wasn't instantly enamored by it but I got it at a weird time cause I didn't get to play it for more then a night or two and really just haven't had a lot of free game time recently. I'll pick it up again next week probably but i'm more interested in Wii Motion Plus for the whole Resort game, especially the swordplay

Yeah, the swordplay is nice. But being able to fly around the island was cool, and relaxing, too. You get five minutes, and can just fly and play around with how it works. There are information points you can pick up, which'll unlock more things for you to do in the mode (like shoot at balloons), and having that really made me feel like there's a great StarFox game to be had with MotionPlus.
