MADWORLD is an awesome Wii game from Platinum Games (you know, the Capcom refugees including Clover, and the Devil May Cry and Resident Evil creators) where you kill people in awesome ways.

NOW I understand! I just watched a couple of trailers... How did this wonderful black and white ballet of death escape my attention for so long? The whole time I watched the trailer, I kept seeing No More Heroes and God Hand. Looks slick! ;D

IGN gave MADWORLD a 9.0. Yes, yes, I know. IGN. But, fuck, I'm down with them calling it one of the most impressive Wii games so far. I can dig it. C'MOOOOOOOOOOOON, WEDNESDAY!
(also, Pikmin for Wii comes out tomorrow. Bastards!)

Nothing has been added to Pikmin but motion controlls, right? Those cocksuckers shoud have slapped 1 & 2 onto the same disk!

Speaking of GC->Wii ports, anyone ever play the Mario Power Tennis game? Apparently it's been ported to Wii with motion controls. I wonder if its better then Wii Tennis.

Pikmin actually got pointer controls, and Mario Power Tennis got motion controls. From what I've heard, Pikmin is the better of the two, since pointer is more accurate and less "guessy" than motion controls. Mario Power Tennis was fun on Cube, but, I can see how it's less so on Wii, especially since nothing special was added to the game (like Wi-Fi or Mii support).

Well I never played the original version so I'd be going at it with really no comparison. What I've read the last two days is that you can actually move the characters around (unlike Wii Tennis) which is kind of cool though I wonder if its done with the Wiimote/Nunchuk or just the Wiimote which would be terribly confusing. Imagine using the digital pad to move while swinging the Wiimote with the same hand? I think I have the dexterity, just not the patience ;D For $30 I'm not sure how I feel about it overall. P.S. It really does suck there's no Wi-Fi though

Actually, Geese, that's exactly how you do it. haha
You can use your nunchuck, too, if you want tho.

Actually, Geese, that's exactly how you do it. haha You can use your nunchuck, too, if yo want tho. I guess its kind of tough cause I think a nunchuk/wiimote combo is kind of unwieldy for tennis (how do you wind up for a forehand and I don't even want to imagine a backhand). But on the other hand, i think its odd to control the wiimote with your hand/arm while controlling the d-pad with your finger. Makes me wonder if 1:1 fighting games will ever get big on the Wii and how they kinda can't cause how the heck could you really move your player like that? And for that matter, if sword games would suffer the same difficulties. I'm going to have to take a shot at this and say they're taking the Mario Super Sluggers route. I never played that game actually so I'm not sure what you mean ;D

You'd use the Wiimote to swing the racket, and the nunchuck to move. Too easy.

What about backhands? I think those would be awkward. Though I guess you could lower your nunchuk hand. Either way, you wouldn't have much cord range for full forehands without moving both hands in a motion that would look more like Para Para dancing then a tennis swing ;D
It's not that its not a natural setup, just that I feel the short cord limits the full potential.
I really wish the Nunchuk had been wireless as well.

The same way you backhand on Wii Sports' Tennis; flicking backward on the ball. You don't have to have big, elaborate motions for the game to work, dork. Nyko makes a Wireless nunchuck. I got one. It's spiffy. Made playing Force Unleashed awesomer.

Yeah, I know, that's not how I play either I hit very sharp angle shots by barely moving my wrist but doing it quickly. But based on the way Nintendo advertises Wii tennis and probably expects the same audience to play Mario Tennis, big sweeping motions are IN. I find that I can't even hit shots as well unless I use my wrist and use shorter rotations. I'm not trying to paint a fence here, just hit a ball Nyko makes a Wireless nunchuck. I got one. It's spiffy. Made playing Force Unleashed awesomer. Ooh - that's very cool. How is it set-up? Is there some kind of device hooked into the Wiimote or the Wii itself? If it's hooked up to the Wiimote, I guess it uses its battery power?

There's a receiver that plugs into the bottom of the Wiimote, where the nunchuck plug already is. It's pretty spiffy. Tho Nyko has a new third-party Wiimote coming out, and it'll have a wireless nunchuck with rumble compatibility.
