The way the young man sits, it’s plain he’s fairly bored. He chews on a cookie, and sips from the Mrs. Field’s cup, swallowing before speaking, “I just want to fight the strong.”
The older gentlemen, a little more animated, continues, “Michael Clinton is STRENGTH, POWER personified! He’s transferred from mixed martial arts and now he forces himself into pro wrestling – there was no migration, he saw a door and threw it open, kicking it much like he will any man who steps into the ring with him!”
Michael Clinton rolls his eyes and bites into another cookie, speaking around it, “Pro wrestling and Mixed Martial Arts are two entirely different sides of a familiar coin – fighting arts, that is what they are. I respect the fighting arts of professional wrestlers, and because I hold that in respect, I ask that they show me the same common courtesy of knowing that, yes, I am the most dangerous man in McLanahan Pro… to the strong. If you aren’t, I’ve really got nothing to say to you, despite my mentor, Colin McLanahan’s objections.”
McLanahan’s eyes soften, and he chuckles a bit, “He’s like this, you know. He just speaks plainly, quietly. Polite, even. He’s the “nice young man” even a father wouldn’t mind his daughter bringing home. But, you see, that all ends at one particular moment… and that moment is when the fight begins. And it resumes at another moment: when the fight ends.”
“Bell to bell,” Clinton interrupts, “Is the time for a fighter. And that’s what I want people – all people, pro wrestlers or fighters or hybrid fighters like Flip Staley to understand.”
When asked about Staley, Clinton sighs, and grows solemn, “I made a mistake and underestimated him because I disregarded professional wrestling. I can assure you, no such mistake will be repeated, and my respect for pro wrestling – sorely lacking prior to my knock out – was made concrete.”
McLanahan chuckles, and says, “I’m not against the idea of leading this young man to the PW-Wild Unified World Heavyweight Championship at some point in time.”
Clinton smiles a strange little smile and says, “Only if its held by someone strong.”
They declined further interview, but Clinton rened cordial and polite throughout – even in refusing to answer any further questions.
