That was AWESOME I loved the one towards the middle where his opponent gets hit while in the corner and just gets dazed as all hell, (the guys' eyes totally glaze over) and then still gets hit on the way down

I miss seeing Igor tear it up in MMA. The last time I saw him in anything was the middleweight tournament sent from the GODS (well, it looked that way on paper, anyway...), and he had a tough time putting away Yuki Kondo (I'm not saying that Kondo didn't look like someone who just barely survived a train wreck by the end...), and then he lost to Hidehiko Yoshida's boy Kazahiro Nakamura (the guy who just got red flagged by the CA athletic commission for testing positive for pot after a fight. How that is going to give anyone an unfair edge in a fight is beyond me...). Since dropping weight in that tournament and losing to Nakamura, I haven't seen him fight once, or even heard his name dropped around anything. It's kind of odd when you look at his 46 - 9 - 1 record (w/ 25 CRITICAL!s), and think that at 5'8", he spent most of his career fighting super heavyweights (in that video, he was fighting Paul "The Polar Bear" Valerans, the big oaf in the reddish singlet and the crew cut is 6'8", 300lbs) and WINNING with vicious KOs, he had a bad transition to middleweight. Another interesting thingy about Igor is the fact that his nine losses came at the hands of guys like Quinton Jackson (busted collar bone from a particularly nasty Rampage slam), Mirko CroCop (in classic Filipovic style...), Mark Coleman (in his prime), and Mario Sperry (founder of Brazilian Top Team), so yeah, Igor's had a tough career against some of the top guys around, and most of his giant list of fights was under Vale Tudo rules. Yikes!
I hope he shows up in UFC or some shit and pounds out someone like Liddell, or even in M1 and gets a pop at Fedor!

Holy shit that really WAS Varelans!? No way! That's weird cause I was thinking it was him but hadn't seen him in YEARS. Like when I saw that big dude, for some reason i joked to myself: "Its Paul Varelans!" and i didn't even know why cause I hadn't even thought of him for a while.
Too bad Tra Telligman and Keith Hackney wasn't in that video too for the holy trinity of early UFC!
And yeah, I never felt Igor went as far as he could. That video showed how multi-dimensional he was. He was an amazing striker but had some great defense and judo skills.

Haha! Way to bring up Igor's skeletons! Igor was supposed to fight Ken Shamrock once upon a time in Pride, but Ken ended up injuring himself just before the fight, and Tra "the human jello mold" Telligman, being a part of the Lion's Den, stepped up to fight in Ken's place. Igor ended up losing a decision to Tra, but I KNOW he went home with a headache after that one (it wasn't a bad fight from what I remember... Kudos to Tra for stepping into a fight with little notice against a human meat grinder who was in his prime at the time in Igor! I've always liked Telligman, and that just upped his stock for me!).
That fight with Valerans was in the Ukraine, it was part of a tournament in which Igor fought and DEFEATED Fred Floyd (6'4", 380 lbs, TKO via strikes), Paul Valerans (TKO via strikes), AND Big John Dixon (6'0" 275, stoppage due to exhaustion). I have the whole event on DVD, and Igor looked like a CHILD in the cage with those monsters. I think John Dixon was a lot heavier than 275 for that fight, and after a few shots from Igor, he was staggering around, and looking for the door to the cage. It was pretty amazing to see Igor smash all of those giants in one night. 13:14, 6:20, 9:10 were the times for each fight, so just imagine grinding away in the cage with three guys over 250 lbs, and coming out on top (Hmm, that sounds like a typical Tuesday night for Paris Hilton!).
