On watching the Gomi/Aurelio fight again, it looked like Gomi got the wind knocked out of him with Aurelio's SICK slam (Flat on Gomi's back, Aurelio right on top of him). You could see Gomi struggling for air from then on in, and the arm triangle (like a side choke) that finished the fight was the second one Aurelio tried (worst part was Aurelio standing on the top turnbuckle after winning, just like Gomi normally does...). Gomi needs to work on his ground game. Aurelio completely dictated the fight, Gomi didn't land anything substantial, and might have thrown ten to fifteen punches, if that.
That being said, I think the next time we see Gomi back in the ring, he'll be different. Imagine the weight of being UNDEFEATED (In Pride, holds losses to Baby Jay Penn and Joachim "Hellboy" Hansen) in your ten Pride appearances, a JAPANESE fighter, the whole country behind you, and EVERYONE gunning for you? The pressure is off now, Gomi can get back into the shit, and come back harder than ever. I can't wait for his first fight back. I think Pride will throw him a can because Gomi is their golden boy, but a title defence against Hayato "Mach" Sakurai is imminent.

Rumours abound...
Looks like RAMPAGE is headed to the UFC. 'Page became a "free agent" when his Pride contract expired April 1st, and there were rumours about a UFC relocation, but there was also talk about Jackson wanting some warm-up fights prior to a rematch with Liddell (and of course, UFC just wanted to toss Jackson into the cage with their eye-gouging, trailer park icon). Apparently the UFC may have come up with enough "Chedda" (Cause "chedda makes it betta") as rumours are flying that Jackson is headed stateside. If this is true, I really hope Jackson DECIMATES Liddell in quick fashion, finally shutting up all of the ass-hats riding Liddell's nuts. I guess we wait until the 15th (UFC 59) to find out what the deal is (Doesn't hold breath).

I would <3 Rampage in UFC - say what you will about PRIDE being more exciting, it's a handful of fighters in UFC that make it, y'know, entertaining. Rampage/Liddell would be HOT - AGAIN - as would possible fights with Tito, Forrest Griffin, Stephan Bonnar, and maybe even a Rampage/Couture? Anyways. I won't hold my breath for Rampage in UFC, but if it works out, well, that'd be fun.

Rampage/Tito wouldn't happen, they're buddies, as is Coture. Bonnar or Griffin would be good though!

Rampage could not just teach fighting, but how to cut a promo, too.

So... Just stumbled onto a PRIDE show on FSN, too bad I was only able to catch the last match. Baroni vs Kando? Match lasted like 25 seconds. Was that a good experience?
DON'T TOUCH THE HAIR!

No doubt. Kondo is SOOOO friggin' good, too. When I read that the match was 24 seconds with a Baroni KO, I almost cried. Baroni has been on a tear lately though. He KOed another great Japanese fighter Ryo Chonan (1:40 rd 1), and took out Minowa a while before that (Minowa got his revenge in a rematch though ;D). Kondo going down like an alter boy is not a good thing, but fighters give his hands WAY too much respect. Baroni has HEAVY hands, but if you can get him on the ground and wear him out (Hammer House = bugger all for cardio), the fight is in the bag. Poor Kondo. I still think Kondo will beat Dan Henderson for the MW title if he gets the shot, but losing to Baroni could confound the logic in giving Kondo a title shot, but yo, it's Pride, and fighters like Zulu, Giant Silva, and Henry "Sentoryu" Miller are proof that Logic and Pride are not always in the same Marawashi.

Update for the Pride Open Weight GP, Round one (May 5th, 2006): Hidehiko Yoshida vs. Yosuke Nishijima Mirko Filipovic vs. Ikuhisa Minowa Josh Barnett vs. Aleksander Emelianenko Kazuyuki Fujita vs. TBA Tsuyoshi Kohsaka vs. TBA Eight more to be announced over the next coupld of weeks, should be interesting. I'm thinking Alistair Overeem will be in this sucka, too, and likely THE KING. Minowa has 22 days to plan his funeral.

Naw, he can just use the Giant Silva Roll (I almost SHAT my pantaloon watching his last match! I thought Minowa was going for the ROLLING KOPU KICK! He rolled in to avoid Silva's reach, took him down, nkeed the shit out of Silva for the win!) to get by the LHK, then shoot in for the big win! I am seriously going to have a Broke Back Mountain thing going for Minowa if he wins. The dude is a legend in my own mind! ***EDIT*** Here you go!Alley-oop!
