Damn!?
Fedor beat Cro Cop? I like Cro Cop!
Silva lost!? SILVA LOST!? When was the last time he lost a fight?
Btw, Foxsports Net has Pride on its tv schedule now. Kinda a "Velocity/Heat" magazine show format but its still cool to see Pride matches on tv!

I'd hardly call the Mirko/Fedor fight a "loss" for CroCop. The fight was a WAR, and easily a candidate for fight of the year! Have a look at this and tell me that Mirko truly "lost"... Fedor for the most part just took CroCop's game away from him. Fedor stalked Mirko the entire fight, neutralizing CroCop's big kick. Fedor is a VERY smart fighter, and didn't beat CroCop by luck alone. This was by far one of my favorite fights of this year. Lots of heart from both guys, Fedor controlled the fight for the most part, and certainly showed the world that he's nearly unmatched (at this point) as world heavyweight champ as far as MMA goes. The "Russian Experiment" Fedor Emelianenko is truly an inexorable force in MMA. As far as Mirko goes, he looked fine at the end of the fight, he demonstrated an ANVIL-LIKE chin absorbing all that Fedor could dish out (which is a LOT), and an INCREDIBLE ground defence, demonstrating that CroCop is not just a one trick pony, but a true student of the game! If CroCop would have developed his ground skills to the level he demonstrated tonight a few years back, he'd have a lot of those losses back in the win column. Amazing fight by CroCop! It sucked to have to see a loser named.

As far as the rest of the fights went, the show was pretty tight all the way around. Curtain jerkers Igor Vovchanchen and Nakamura put on an okay show. These two were reserves in case one of the GP Tournament finalists (Wanderlei Silva, Ricardo Arona, Murillo "Shogun" Rua, and Alistair "Demolition Man" Overeem) couldn't advance due to injury. Nakamura lost in the previous round to Silva (Getting KOed while trying to remove his Gi ING the fight...), but managed a lay-and-pray victory over my n home-slice Igor Vovchanchyn. Igor showed lots of ground defense skills easily escaping Nakamura's submission attempts repeatedly. Nakamura kept things on the ground, never once letting Vov test his chin, but this pig of a match ended up in a victory for the slumping Yoshida Dojo. The last place a non-Japanese fighter wants a fight to end up is in the hands of the judges, but that's where it went. (Please ignore the obvious bias toward Mr. Vovchanchyn. I love the Yoshida Dojo guys normaly, but I'm aching for an Igor CRITICAL!... ) Silva/Arona was a good match, and Arona showed that he has to be taken seriously in Pride's middleweight division. With plenty of bad blood and a lack of respect for Silva, Arona showed no fear in standing toe-to-toe with Wand, and the Axe Murderer looked tentative for some reason. Arona's strength is in his ground game, and of course that’s where the fight ended up. Great ground defense by Silva, but a lack of any real offensive maneuvers and Arona's oppressive ground control left this fight in the hands of the judges, and brought Silva's five year winning streak to a close. Good match, but a heart breaker for Silva fans (And for Sakuraba fans hoping to see that prick Arona taste a serious ass kicking…) Overeem/”Shogun” Rua was a GREAT fight! Very entertaining with lots of highlight reel stuff! Overeem had control of the fight very early on, and at one point it looked as though Overeem would obtain another Guillotine choke victory (the method he used to eliminate Vitor Belfort in the first round, and Igor Vovchanchyn in the second round of the Pride Middleweight GP tournament…). Shogun slipped out, came back and scored an impressive TKO victory over his more experienced opponent! Watch Rua in the future, he’s a blast to watch fight and another of Wand’s Chute Boxe teammates! Shogun’s KO victory over Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and his fight of the year candidate match with “Baby Nog” really seem to indicate that Chute Boxe and Rua are the real deal! Fabricio Werdum/Roman Zentsov was another solid fight. Werdum is Mirko CroCop’s BJJ coach, while Zentsov is a member of Fedor’s Red Devil Team. Good fight, ended up on the ground, Werdum got Zentsov into a bad position and subbed him with a Triangle choke. Nice fight! Red Devil team has a stable of VERY scary looking beasts from the former Soviet Union. I’m waiting for Zangief to make his Pride debut under the Red Devil team’s banner… David “Tank” Abbott/Hidehiko Yoshida, a throwback to the old striker vs. grappler days of early MMA. Tank rushed Yoshida to the ground and looked as though he thought he was still in a UFC cage, pushing Yoshida to the ropes, only to be restarted in the centre of the ring repeatedly. Tank barely threw anything resembling offence Yoshida’s way for the duration of the fight, while his far lighter, Judo expert opponent threw a nice high kick (which connected) and a combination of punches that ROCKED Tank! I guess all of those wars with Silva paid off for Yoshida. Taz fans will be happy to know that Yoshida finished the match with the Kataha Jime (Tazmission) in Round one. Nice work Yoshida! OUSSSS! Since you already heard the outcome of CroCop vs. Fedor, on to the GP Tournament Final. Shogun avenged his Chute Boxe team member’s loss to Arona by kicking the SHIT out of that punk bitch by KO! YEEEEEE HAAAAAA! Sorry…. I’m just happy that Arona didn’t even get a chance to tap out, he was too busy SNORRING like an overstuffed pig. Good night, BEEEATCH! [glow=red,2,300]Jump, Shogun, JUMP!!![/glow] Fedor defends his title, a new, Middleweight champ is crowned, the evil Ricardo Arona is sent back to Brasil to soak his crank-bloated, broken body and fat-ass ego (YUSSSSS!), the whole thing was fantastic, save for the TOTALY SHAMELESS, and CLASSLESS plug by some PRICK from FOX plugging their exclusivity deal in the US. This asshole looked like he just got to the event a minute or two before he got on air, proceeded to plug various Fox shows, AND butchered the Japanese language in front of fifty-thousand FIGHT FANS. All the while, the NEW middleweight champ stood there, waiting to get his giant check, trophy, and title belt from Takada. Brutal. Great event, Silva was proud of Shogun and didn't try to steal the show. Nice one! Pride is the pinnacle of MMA. Dana White, are you watching? Learning?...

Oh yeah, you couldn't see it in any of the pictures that I found so far, but Fedor had a NASTY looking bruise/welt under his right arm. When he was handed the obligatory giant cheque, he couldn't hold his right arm up over his head. Yikes! CroCop is the real deal! ;D

Fedor had a NASTY looking bruise/welt under his right arm. When he was handed the obligatory giant cheque... Now, see, I see this and think, "Yeah, I want a part of MMA!" Mostly 'cuz I want to be in a profession where people get handed giant cheques.

Yeah, there's the giant cheques. Those are good. I like giant cheques.
Even if I couldn't raise it over my head, I'd probably still like the giant cheque.
But then there's the matter of "a NASTY looking bruise/welt under [your] right arm." I wouldn't enjoy that bit. And what about if that NASTY looking bruise/welt were somewhere else? Let's say it happened to your JUNK?
No, I don't think MMA is for me. Besides, the only martial arts I know are shotokan and TKD, and those two don't mix very well when it comes to groundfighting and submission wrestling, so....

As a rule, I think sexy ring girls should hand out Giant Cheques and Trophys bigger than themselves at McPro events, too. That would be an acceptable practice at work, as well. ;D

Pride 31, February 26 is shaping up like this so far,
PRIDE 31 "Dreamers" now consists of eight bouts:
Mark Hunt vs Yosuke Nishijima (Pro, HW Japanese boxer)
Tsuyoshi Kohsaka vs Mario Sperry (battle of the greybeards)
Mark Coleman vs Mauricio Rua (Shogun's FIRST HW bout)
Sergei Kharitonov vs Alistair Overeem (This one should be AWESOME! Kharitonov has my vote)
Jon Olav Einemo vs Fabricio Werdum (Werdum is good...)
Quinton Jackson vs Dong Sik Yoon (Looks like Pride wants to keep Rampage after all...)
Pedro Rizzo vs Roman Zentsov (Last time I saw Zentsov, he was getting kicked to death by CroCop. Zentsov is with Red Devil Fight Club and will likely have Fedor in his corner. Depending on whether wimpy Rizzo or agressive, droppin' bombs Rizzo shows up, the fight could go either way.)
Josh Barnett vs Kazuhiro Nakamura (HUGE test for Nak. It must be a part of the Yoshida Dojo's code to fight guys who are at least 75 pounds heavier than you. Craziness.).
That's all that is listed at this point.
