Well how long have you been writing shows for? I find that the longer one writes public shows, the more used to longer shows they get. To use OG-FPD as an example (and shift the topic to me, LOL). Most Voltages these days are around 65kb (in addition to video matches) but when i first started OG-FPD the shows were like 10kb INCLUDING match writeups! Over time i became more comfortable with longer writeups. In fact, i can't NOT go longer cause it is precisely the commentary banter of Figaro and Clyde that entertain me enough while writing the shows to even write shows to begin with. If it wasn't for them amusing me AS I write for them, most shows would be like 10kb again. Really, the commentary and storyline situation/on show promos are the bulk of the shows now. But my original shows back in 2004, man, they were TINY. No actual dialogue or commentary and my match descriptions were like tiny (and pretty sucky!) too. I never would have envisioned getting to the point I'm at now with bigger shows AND match videos. So uh, i've gone off track a bit. But yeah, i figure your shows will get longer if you want them to as you continue to write them. Starting out with big shows would have been a recipe for early burn out for me so i felt that gradually increasing the shows worked best. But you gotta do what you're comfortable and happy with. If smaller shows work for you and make you happy, then that's what you gotta do, yanno? But yeah, both McPro and NDP have set the standard for a while now for having long QUALITY shows with both storyline happenings and match write-ups. And this McPro New Years Show, f'n TOP quality P.S. Just for fun, I decided to compare the FIRST Voltage I ever wrote back in 2004 (look below the dotted line for the start of the show) and the most recent Voltage from November 2006.. Now that's a big change! P.P.S. MCPROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO RUUUUUUUUUUULES!!! P.P.P.S. After checking out your FPJ tour, the shows are a really nice size for a tournament tour!

with me, I'd like to keep it short, but matches I write up just seem to get more involving than ones just simmed, even using a sim as a base, they just become more and more HUGE.
I wish I had the McPro sense of brevity

Actually, I have to admit, I haven't used a sim for my shows yet (or for the months worth of future results I've booked). I'd have to say that's a big reason for my short writeups. I don't have the creativity to write dozens of matches a month from scratch. I mean, I can come up with a finish, and maybe another spot or two, but that's about it. If I had sims to work off of (like when I used to do my Phantasy Phun Sims or WILD writeups), I'd likely have a lot more detail.
And why haven't I used sims? Because of another horrible secret...
I barely even have any edits completed yet. Sure, I've got 70-80 edits with appearances, but moves and logic... not so much.
Yeah, I started a "Fire Pro fed" without having edits done. Man, I'm pretty stupid for an evil genius. Well, some of the blame lies in the fact I only have the PS2 emulator to work with, and I've had the thing freeze up after working on my edits, losing my work countless times. Though the rest of it is just me being an idiot.
But, yeah, that McPro is some good stuff.

Same with me, I can't come up with an entire match by myself, or at least not a whole fed worth of them. While the n reason i do video matches is cause I enjoy watching them, i also couldn't do a whole fed of write-ups cause I don't have the match scripting creativity of guys like Jyou, Moto, Spunk, Vermin, etc. And why haven't I used sims? Because of another horrible secret...I barely even have any edits completed yet. Sure, I've got 70-80 edits with appearances, but moves and logic... not so much.. When I first announced/started LAWL, i only had like 2 edits done Heck, even now...my dirty little secret (ok, ONE of them) is that i STILL don't have complete moves/logic done for Orange Julia and Abominable Snow Woman!! And they are over a year old in my game! But, yeah, that McPro is some good stuff. Much agreed ;D I just hope there is plenty more to come...as that show ending freaked me out Oh also, anyone else mark out BIG TIME at Bak Fu/Michael Clinton!? I swear that match made me want to RUN to turn on FPR to sim that match, that's freaking money

I don't think Twinky realizes how pissed off a black woman is when her pants get stolen.

McPro! … Well, let’s talk about it. It kinda got wild and out of hand, didn’t it? I started it just to kinda supplement PW-Wild – I wanted to push my own wrestlers in a way to emphasize their strengths (hence, the heavy handed use of Eddie Swan and Frog Jones)… but as I grew better at writing, pacing the wrestling stories, I brought in other people’s edits and started growing the promotion up. It went past just me writing to be weird to actually having storylines and such. Yeah, this is probably going where you think it is. I had fun writing it, and its original purpose (get my people over in Wild) changed to a newer one (entertain me) and stayed that way for a long time. I created a large story, a “federation wide” sort of theme – I’d liked the one Ring of Honor did with CZW, and kind of copied that along with the WWF/WCW Invasion. I tried to make it work, but for me? It felt like it turned flat because of a lack of interest. ON MY PART. But, I did have one intention from the very beginning of the story: the way it ended. I feel like it was the most natural, honest conclusion ever: I’m sick of being constantly spoon-fed stories that end in “feel-good” happy ways, and I’m sick of being treated as if I can’t handle my fucking wrestling by wrestling promotions who have way too much invested in everything else BUT. I’m sick of this in video games, in movies, in my goddamn music, on print in front of me in book form. Wrestling, much like real life, can’t always have happy endings. They have NATURAL endings. Twinky McLanahan, to me, has re ned very constant in two key points. - He’s not the smartest light bulb amongst the rakes - He leaps before he looks. So, with those points in mind, I knew how to end it: an “All or nothing” gambit – Twinky bets the farm, and loses. How often do we see that ending made painfully open to us from the beginning of a (movie, game, book)? The good guys will risk everything and WIN and the world will be happier for it! No. Sometimes, the good guys lose. They lose everything, and then they lose some more. They lose BIG TIME. And that’s what happened here, in my mind. This is a natural ending: the good guys made that “ONE LAST CHANCE!” gambit, and then they failed in the end. It just happens. So, I wrote the show because… well, I didn’t know what I wanted to do. I didn’t know if I wanted to end it. I didn’t know if I wanted to continue it. But, pro wrestling, despite being awesome, just isn’t a relevant interest of mine any more. How long do I have to be abused for being a fan of pro wrestling? Not by other people, but by the people SELLING ME THE PRO WRESTLING to begin with?! McPro ended RIGHT – if I change my mind and bring it back later, I can – kinda like Futurama. Farnsworth impressions are a must when McPro comes back though.

I have noticed this as well and appreciate you giving us what you saw as the logical and natural ending based on the events and the characters. You weren't afraid to be real, even if you knew ETERNAL SADNESS (LOL, guilt trip) might result from a McPro end/hiatus/coffee break. But seriously, one of the reasons I actually first got turned on to anime was cause they weren't afraid to give a less then rosy ending. In fact, Fist of the North Star did that and I was blown away with its honesty. So I always have a lot of respect for a story that isn't AFRAID to have reality set in. (heck, even Kefka in FFVI achieves something greater then any past FF villain) Not to say I want every villain winning every end fight in every story, just the ones that could make sense. Whether it be due to protagonist's flaw or mistake (Twinky's risking it ALL...which is less a flaw then it is a double side of the coin of PASSION for him that just turned out not to be successful here) or an antagonist's superiority, or even just circumstances. I don't want to be babied, I don't need the "good guy" to win every single major fight. That's ONE of the reasons WWE's treatment of Hogan in the 80's bored me and NWA's treatment of Flair in NWA interested me. Same goes for my boredom with DC's superman and interest in Marvel's balance of dominance. \ But, pro wrestling, despite being awesome, just isn’t a relevant interest of mine any more. How long do I have to be abused for being a fan of pro wrestling? Not by other people, but by the people SELLING ME THE PRO WRESTLING to begin with?! Quoted for TRUTH. It's why i basically gave up watching WWE and TNA. And remember, it's hard to get them to sell you pro wrestling when they refuse to admit that's what they are giving you even though it's in a f'n wrestling ring! "This ain't ballet", Vince McPro ended RIGHT – if I change my mind and bring it back later, I can – kinda like Futurama. Farnsworth impressions are a must when McPro comes back though. Looks like I'll have to start lobbying the internet to bring back McPro...and maybe blame Fox for preempting it with football! And within the next few years, Frog will become the new internet "hypnotoad" favorite Bad news, everyone. [Visper:] NOW WHO'M I GONNA KICK REPEATEDLY IN THE HEAD UNTIL THEY STOP HAVING A HEAD TO KICK?!? Do us all a favor and try her!. . . Seriously, I love McPro. Along with its excellent humor, BIG surprises, super deep characters and interpersonal relations...McPro has always been a favorite of mine cause of its grand and intricate storylines. Cause it does things right and doesn't patronize or insult its audience with the story along the way or the endings. And there's something VERY positive to be said for a product that does that and ends on its own accord without breaking its own principles just to stay afloat. McPro CAN still logically come back of course... that doesn't mean that you didn't end the last show the way you decisively wanted, just that there are probably ways to continue from THIS point. But McPro can also end up being like that one movie or series that 90% of its fans wanted a sequel/rebirth to....whereas the other 10% knew that it might very well have not been MEANT to have a sequel/rebirth cause of its principles and the way it ended. But even that 10% knows there's a chance it can come back rationally...but that it's up to the creator to decide if/how he wants to do it. And if he doesn't, then we just sit back and reminisce on its awesomeness and find a way to port some of the characters over to OrochiGeese's growing phalanx of feds ;D

OMG its back!? ;D
ITS BACK!!!!!! And now we have a "Who's the boss storyline!" Is this the opening McPro needed to introduce Alyssa Milano to the GHP division!? I hope so! Or is Vince McMuffin (part of Cake Army) gonna come in and say: "It was me, McLanahan! It was me all along!" Sounds promising either way!
So are all the previous belts back in play? With the previous champions still holding them?

Gee. That PPV was just a couple weeks ago, and he already got addicted that bad?!
No, but really, it's good that he's getting help. And now this means that if I did this with Kaori like I was planning, I'm just ripping off. Motherfuck.
