Well... I knew it was going to be my birthday today. But when today hit, I had my mind on other things. I am being overwhelmed by stuff in college.
Hitting 19 today.

Happy Birfday, Slime! Get underwhelmed long enough to enjoy your day for a bit, mmkay? (My birfday is in the summer, so gene-altering states of inebriation are an option for me without worrying aboot schoolwork! )

Maybe it's because I just got back into school again (after a 1 month winter break) and a new semester/year always get me worked up and I don't know why. Everytime I think about school I get this heart sinking feeling. Literally. I'm sure it'll pass once I get comfortable with school again. I hate myself sometimes...

The start of a new semester is always stressful, and depressing after having vacation But hey, its your birthday dude, today's not the day to hate yourself! Just try to think of and do something positive and fun. Even if its simple like eating food you like or playing a game I've had bad bdays before and then i really hate myself the day after cause i feel i squandered the bday!

I'm trying to get back into Star Ocean: Till the End of Time after about 1 year hiatus as I type this. Sometimes I feel like playing video games is me trying to escape reality or keep my mind off things rather than for entertainment.

Well, sometimes such an escape is needed, Games can be pretty good for that type of thing, especially involved ones like RPGs or even Fire Pro. Want to escape from something? Do comprehensive cpu logic for a freaking potato or banana And yeah, if THATS what I'm escaping TO... one can only imagine... But yeah, just try to give yourself some fun. It can only build on itself and make you feel more positive in general. And really, sounds like you have a lot of stress in school, so you'll need that positive energy to take care of the reasons for the stress. And remember..hey, its your bday. Just a day to reflect on your life, and I'm sure there are positive things you can reflect about in your whole life even if you feel you are currently in a negative situation. At the very least, just having fun with a game can affirm that you enjoy having fun and then you'll work even harder to attain it. Sounds pretty simple and silly, but it's worked for me. And while I might be silly, I'm certainly not simple...anyone here can attest I have complex issues ;D

At the very least, just having fun with a game can affirm that you enjoy having fun and then you'll work even harder to attain it. That brings up some more confusion. I feel like I forcing myself to play some games. I am currently overloaded with games and I don't even know what games I should finish first. Games include the DS, PSP and the PS2. I would play a game for about 10-15 minutes (PSP, DS) or an hour or 2 with the PS2 then I just stop playing them. But one exception is Phoenix Wright. I play this game for hours non-stop.

Thanks, Dr. OG! ;D Slime, I'm in the same boat! I play a game for a few minutes, then, bye-bye! I also sometimes feel like I'm forcing myself to play games that are getting backlogged (but I'm still looking forward to NEW releases that will likely enjoy the same level of negligence that my existing collection receives from me). Go back to old stand-bys like Fire Pro, or in my case Street Fighter games (I've rediscovered the "Alpha" compilation!). If nothing but Phoenix Wright grabs you, play it, enjoy it, and allow yourself to relax! One of these days, I'll apply OG's advice and mine to my life, too! Happy B-Day, yo! *goes back to serial dilution planning for tomorrow... *

I know the feeling when games become "work" Often the difference between fun and chore for me in FPR is the mood I'm in and overall enthusiasm. When I'm super enthusiastic about my feds and don't feel time pressured, then I usually love going into FPR to do edit and simming work. When I have a lot on my plate, then its more of a chore. Factor that into my mood at the moment too and FPR can either be a real fun and meaningful experience one night and a total frustrating chore the next one (especially if sims don't go well!). And cause I spend so much time on that and e-feds in general, I don't always get to play other games. I love the DS and kinda wish I spent more time playing Yoshi's Island and Castlevania right now. Same with some PS2 games. Heck, its been months since I've played Katamari! One of my New years resolutions (seriously) was to devote more time to other games. I've been doing that well with Kenshin but I feel the DS has kinda gotten the short end of the stick since New Years. Been a quick month too, kinda weird February is almost here! But the thing is...i'd say that most of my recreational time is spent on e-feds. And I get so excited about them (especially some of the stuff i have planned for early Spring!) that i really WANT to get into FPR and do what I have to do. So its kinda like I'm willing to take a few off nights just so I can experience the overall benefit of doing what I have planned. But when I'm in an overstressed/overworked mood, then I just go for whatever game I'm in the mood for. Whether I've played it once or one thousand times. Cause in the end, the games are there for recreation so I just go right for what I would most like to play. Often it turns out to be either original Super Mario World or Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter, an old favorite and staple of just pure gaming FUN for me

'slime, dude... uh..
There comes a point when you just have to say to yourself, "I'm never going to beat all these games..." and trade stuff in.
Or, there's this thing, called "Women" - they're better than Playstation. Even in High-Def!

'slime, dude... uh.. There comes a point when you just have to say to yourself, "I'm never going to beat all these games..." and trade stuff in. I have a couple of candidates, but I also have some strategy guides for them and.. I wouldn't know what to do with them with no game. But, I guess I calmed myself down today, by actually going to school. School calms me down... WHY?? ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
