Pro Wres News Special: "Mommy, what's a McPro?"
...a brief introduction for new fans, or confused old fans.
Overview
- McLanahan Pro, owned, booked and run by iconic freelance wrestler Twinky McLanahan, has been known for all around entertaining shows - either because of the odd commentary during the matches, the incessant anti-GeNext humor, or perhaps because it's booked like a wrestling promotion who's n booker has been dropped on his head a few thousand times in the past four years.
For whatever reason, the fans still enjoy McPro, despite a widespread amount of anger regarding last year's "NAVIGATION WITH SOMETHING COMPASS LIKE" show having a thumb wrestling n event.
A long time regional promotion, Midwest Wrestling had experienced many ups and downs before being purchased by Twinky McLanahan a scant few years ago - it had been a solid territory before the national wrestling companies began stabilizing, before fading into relative obscurity, and making a solid run at being relevant again thanks to the trend of "hardcore" wrestling in the early to mid-90's - a trend responsible for introducing a number of the biggest names in McPro today, men such as Monkey! and Twinky McLanahan.
Recently, McLanahan Pro changed gears, shifted formats, abandoning a "cookie cutter" generic format for Heavyweight wrestling - instead, putting emphasis on Cruiserweights/Junior Heavyweights/Middleweights, whatever title you prefer for them: the McPro World Heavyweight Championship was taken from Santa Claus by Kingpin, and the championship was retired, the final champion Kingpin never defending, but as Santa Claus was no longer able to use his clout to prevent the final change to make McPro... well, uh, McPro, he saw his influence as top heel fade.
Today, McPro's emphasis on entertaining shows using a variety of McLanahan Gym students continues, as such big names as Bak Fu, El Spatula, Jason Wesley and Eddie Swan all use McPro as a stopover in between their various tours of PW-Wild, FPN, and other independent wrestling organizations...
