I'm excited to see that something I figured for some time is true due to fake random number generation... Cool shit, though.

...
huh.
Hey, will someone check on JB? I think his head might've just exploded. His chest might've caved in, too.

Early previews of this game don't give me much confidence really.
But my hope is that Spike cashes in on this attempt to get casuals and then makes enough profit to make a new Fire Pro along the lines we are used to. It's good that Spike even wants to make a new Fire Pro but what I'm seeing in those pics/vids don't really justify calling it Fire Pro. It's still early though of course.

If they cash in on this, then you know what they'll do? Think, "hey, this made us money! Let's make more! Because they sell! Who cares about our old customers?!" Sure, the visual style is... Well, it's Avatars. But I'm okay with that, so long as the gameplay is intact. And if it is, who knows? New Damage Prowrestling might be getting a facelift. (Jakob Furis avatar; if that's not a terrifying vision of the future, I don't know what is.)

I bet MS makes avatar rules to stop Furis and Goose edits in the new game ;D
I'm not against a new visual style but from the admittedly limited info we have on this game, I'm not thinking the gameplay is gonna be anywhere as deep or personally satisfying. We'll see though. All we can really have are hunches at this point and I'm happy to be wrong.
I mean, most Fire Pro fans did NOT get into the series because of graphical style. While I happen to be a big fan of 2d sprites, it really is the least important thing about the game (as evidenced by my love for KOC2 as well). Changing up the graphic style while keeping or improving the gameplay is a WIN.
But the press releases do not seem to move us sufficiently forward like the FPR press releases did. I remember when FPR came out and they promised us new stuff off the bat. Whereas this release promised us that "single and tag matches" would be included. That's quite a bit lowering expectations...they're basically telling us that we can have wrestling matches at all ;D

I don't mind the graphical style, I'm just curious if it'll be avatars-only. If it is, that'll be pretty disappointing, because they're not really THAT customizable to where you can make a lot of good wrestler-looking characters.

They have said that it'll be Avatars-only. And, apparently, it was Spike's idea to go that route.
Which is really a boon for them. They won't have to make a single character model, and all the costume parts they make will be made into a handful of pre-determined sizes. It gives 'em the opportunity to spend that time on arenas, gameplay, and nice online functionality (or, just to be lazy).

Well, they're re-doing the avatars to look more life-like for Kinect... so, the proportions won't actually be that out of whack. ps somebody buy me a new 360 so I can play

Well, they're re-doing the avatars to look more life-like for Kinect... so, the proportions won't actually be that out of whack. I'm talking more about the clothing and whatnot. From the one or two screenshots I saw, it looked like they were just wrestling in regular avatar clothes. I'm talking about being able to design specific kinds of tights, and outfitting avatars in elbow pads, knee pads, gloves, wrist bands, boots, etc.

No, there was wrestling attire; wide pants, tights, masks, etc. One character even had a sweater with muscles on it. But, they wouldn't want to have people not be able to use their Avatars' normal outfits in the game - especially if they've paid for clothing. So, you'll have the opportunity for both; the clothing in the game will just be in addition to what is already available for Avatars.
If anything, I'm worried about how much customization they'll let you have for tights. But, even more worried about logic. If it doesn't have that, I just won't care at all.

awesome. I don't care what anyone says, avatars only is a great idea.
what better way to gain bragging rights then to drop moto on his head with a dangerous german suplex, critical the bastard, and then demand that his avatar stop using the WWE belt prop?
...all while wearing stormtrooper armor?
I just REALLLY REALLY REALLY hope they let you use your avatar's own clothing and props and such. can you imagine the zaniness that will ensue?
I mean, for god's sake, my X-Box's 'guest' profile is named "Mr. Hitler" and I have like ten costumes for him already. I could honestly see avatar-Hitler making avatar-Winston Churchill tap to a crippler crossface. god, what kooky fun we could have with this shit.

It's coming to the States this summer. MS was showing it off at GDC, and promoting it pretty heavily. They even put up an extended version trailer on LIVE last week. Shut up and take my money!
