Is it sad that the result of the Playboy Pillow Fight was probably the most surprising outcome at WrestleMania?

LOL I've been following the results on a website throughout the night. I cant really comment on match quality without seeing the matches but at leastin terms of outcomes, it seemed like a decent WM but nothing too shocking. Im a bit surrpised at the two n event outcomes (that they decided to go those ways) but not too shocked. Some of the matches (MiTB, Foley/Edge in particular) sounded like they were good to great. But as i said, without watching, i really can't give an accurate or fair review. I would agree that the PPF was DEFINITELY the most shocking outcome as I figured they had an agenda with one of the "combatants." Oh well, i heard the crowd was freaking hilarious for HHH/Cena

Not to mention that HHH came out apparently decked out like He-Man. ;

LOL I read he came out like a barbarian. Points to him for pulling off a He-Man look That makes me mark out more for him then most anyone else on the roster! (And no, Boogeyman doesn't get "Skeletor" OR "Hordak" votes from me, sorry). I read (and again, it was just from a recap, not the live show, so i acknowledge possible inaccuracy!) that the commentary during the HHH/Cena match was basically WWE doing their best to further alienate any WWE fans that didn't like Cena. The whole "new school/old school" thing is just yet ANOTHER attempt to keep Cena a face and tell the fans what we should like and accept. That will work great until, um, half their audience drops out, LOL Looks like the "new school" arenas won't be too crowded. The thing is, i have no problem with non clearcut face/heel roles. But I just know that WWE and WWE marketing will still be treating Cena as a mega star face despite them trying to divide the audience among lines OTHER then face/heel barriers. I dont trust current WWE to respect a divide like that and treat BOTH sets of fans equally. Not when they ahve alreayd shown they are willing to overlook anything to try to get Cena accepted as the top star. What was up with Cena's entrance? And apparently they did a video package overly glorifying mob violence? And tying Cena in with that mentality? The hell? Is this some odd way to bring back a "Stone Cold" character and have it fit with Cena's specific shtick?

Who the fuck knows anymore? WWE already dropped the ball on Cena being Stone Cold-esque, making him seem like a "Gangsta", then a "gangster"... Well...
Yeah. Who the fuck knows?

Yeah, its weird,
They are just doing anything they can to marginalize the opposition. How come when a heel thats supposed to get booed, gets cheered, they never did any "new school/old school" BS? They didnt do taht for Christian!
They're still gonna give him this mega face push. And now he has the same credo as gangsters did during the Great Depression? Wh...what?
Um, WWE, let's just move along and turn him heel...cause it's just getting embarrasing...
The sad thing is, I really don't hate John Cena. I was a big fan of him for a while (he's been the freaking OG-FPD WWF Champ for over a year now!). Its just that the current incarnation of his character is just killing his career. He can STILL get the fan support he gets (out of the young kids and teen girls) if he would go back to doing what he did beforehand when he ALSO got a lot of support from the rest of the audience. The support he got that made him popular enough in 2004 to even be considered as a World Title contender. But now, now, its just awful to see both his character AND WWE try to put him over the way they've been doing.

WRESTLEMANIA THOUGHTS~!!!
- Money in the Bank was surprisingly short. The hot moments of it were pretty consistent with very little slow points, but... it wasn't very long. Sad, considering how many GREAT wrestlers were in it. SPOT OF THE MATCH: Shelton flipped over the ladder to try and powerbomb Lashley, but he wasn't having any of it - so, Finlay and Hardy help and the three men powerbombed Lashley!!! omfg~!!!
- Carlito/Masters v. Big Show/Kane... ehm...
- Bradshaw v. Benoit - Is it wrong that the most entertainment value was driven by making fun of JBL's man boobies? I expected this to be GREAT, but it kinda fell flat for me.
- Rey/Orton/Angle... SHORT!!! Not slow, but SHORT AS HELL! Rey going over was hot, but the crowd was like, "meh."
- Cena/HHH. The H's did a whole "Conan the Barbarian" thing, complete with giant Thor sledgehammer... then the regular entrance... and Cena had a "news reel" sort of thing play for "gangsters" and then he came out with a fedora and a tommy gun. ...uh... okay.
Quote of the night: "Jesus v. Triple H, Summerslam - winner gets to call himself King of Kings. BOOK THAT SHIT!" (We may have new converts to the Dump soon... >_>;;)
- Edge/Foley. OH. MY. GOD. Match of the Night, definitely, with Joey Styles doing commentary with JR and King. THAT'S what I want for my Raw commentary: JR, King, Joey Styles.
- Boogeyman/Booker T - guh. Less said, the better.
More thoughts as I remember.

I had aspirations of going to WrestleMania 22. I'm reeeeeeeeeeealllllllllly glad I didn't. Let alone, yanno, watch it on PPV.
This is supposed to be the biggest show of the year, but, it seemed really RUSHED. Especially considering it was 4 hours long.

Again, I think the whole mob/tommy gun thing for Cena had a lot to do with it being in Chicago, seeing as how that's where Capone was big in the 30's with the mob/tommy guns/etc. And the fact that they have to make the WM n event entrances a spectacle.

YES! Outside of how cheesy the Cena entrance was, they definitely hit the "spectacle" part of things perfectly. Stuff like the BIG entrances, bands playing the entry theme live to get the wrestlers to the ring, that sort of stuff - I mean, the best example I can give is the Undertaker's entrance in general: The gong hits, the smoke fills the arena, and he's not doing anything to wave to the crowd; it's just a building of anticipation. To me, that's what Wrestlemania needs more of: Wrestlemania should be the ULTIMATE culmination in storylines, the final clash of good and evil if you will... where dreams are made, where heroes still do heroic things, and where you can set aside smarky preferences to just be a FAN. But now I'm just sounding like a disgruntled old fart. Why, back in our day, we wore WOOL TRUNKS, black, with black boots and we didn't use... /me falls asleep.

I hate smarky preferences.
I think I'm slowly reverting to pure fandom.... I'm seriously as jazzed about RAW tonight as I was WM last night. It's like New Year's all over again.
